I received some money for my birthday a few weeks ago and I decided to get a new detailing toy. We all know we never have enough toys especially when it comes to detailing. I ordered it last week and it came today.

I'm looking forward to trying it out with some menzerna.

Nica, that's amethyst geodes from Brazil behind the menzerna. It's a pair cut in half from one geode. That pair is over 4' tall and each half weighs over 200 lbs. They are about 20 million years old. I import it and a lot of other items from South America and sell them for fun and profit.

Another Metabo "maniac" hits the streets....have fun Gary. You're gonna diminish the use of a pc after this jewel. I like mine best with the 6" pads and backing plate.

Nice toys Gary....nice picks....you will enjoy them...the Geode is cool also....I have a few smaller ones...along with some other different crystal formations....

Now go out and polish and show us the results....

Thanks guys! I'm looking forward to trying out the metabo. I think I'm going to give my DeWalt to my dad and still keep my Hatachi. My birthday was back on May 14 so I'm days older now.

Al, I can use my sailboat mask for the stripper pole. I just need the strippers. I'm sure my wife won't mind.

I want it, I want it, I want it...no, not the stripper pole - the Metabo. Oh, okay, the stripper pole too. Have fun with it (both)!

Happy Belated Birthday Gary. Looks like you got yourself a very fun toy there. Please post your thoughts on it after you take it for a test drive.

serious question ... why chose this over, well lets say the Festool Dual Mode Tool ?? The Matebo is a true rotary polisher only, thus why keeping the Hitachi also ?? Please tell.

It's good to have a backup and one never has enough detailing toys. It's not that I need both a Metabo and a Hitachi rotary any more then I need more then 1 car. Even though I have not had a chance to use the Metabo yet they do have a lot different feel in you hands. I like the feel of the Metabo vs the larger rotaries and it's a little lighter. I also like the Hitachi a lot better then the DeWatt due to it being lighter and it seems to have more power. I have quite a few Hitachi power tools and I have been very happy with them.

I looked at getting a Festool Dual Action sander/polisher before. I can't think of the model but it was the same one that Toto purchased. I might have purchased one if they were more reasonable priced or if someone would have even discounted it a little. I seached all over the internet to try and find the best price on one. They really have the price fixed and must not allow any discount. I think everyone wanted $360.00 for it at the time.

I have a PC and may also end up getting a UDM. When it comes to boys and toys it's not always a matter of need. Scott, I saw that you made on offer to a forum member on their Cyclo. I'm sure it's not like you really need to have another polisher.

Sometimes us guys are just like Tim the Toolman.:)

No I dont need the Cyclo and doubt I would use it much, heck I hardly touch my Hitachi either. I just wondered if I missed something the Matebo did since you already had two polishers. While the Festool seems very underpowered on both sides of the coin (polisher versus random orbital) it is interesting in concept as a hybrid. Festools mistake is not moving them at 200.00-225.00 each as I think most would add it to their aersonal if for nothing more than shits and giggles.

Congrats on the purchase Gary, be sure to share results!

wow - you are gong to take that to one of your babied expensive cars? how in the heck did you learn to use it, gary?
oh, i talked to your wife. she said she had some male friends over while you were detailing - they were entertaining her on the stripper pole.

After doing some reseach and pricing on the the Festool my thoughts were exactly the same as yours Scott. Great concept and I'm sure it's a nice machine but I could not justify paying $360 for it. For that price you could get a rotary that is much powerful and a PC. I might have even paid $250 for it but I thought $360 was much to high.

Thanks P1et! I'll be sure to post a review and pictures when I get a chance to use it.
