Hi Guys,

I'm excited - the Fedex man dropped off my new (and first) kit this morning. I will open it all up and post up a pic of the stuff I got tonight :)

Firstly - A massive thanks to Autogeek for getting it all together, there were some problems (LC Pads out of stock) but AG pulled through in the end - also they honoured the 15% off (shopping cart screwed up, and I just thought it was meant to be) which they didn't have to.

Anywho - Obviously I will read the manual first, but is there anything I should do to the flex (lube? tighten things? run-in??) before I get down to business?

Cheers
D.

Oil the felt ring then make sure the BP is held in place firmly.

Lube the felt ring and tighten the backing plate. Have fun.

Like they said! Congrats on the flex! You'll love it!

Air tool oil

perfect picture :)

is air tool oil like sewing machine oil - and no i have never used a sewing machine but i know where to buy the oil :P

I need to lube my felt ring. I figure I'll use some paintball gun oil. It's just air tool oil for the most part anyway.

ahh ok - thanks..

yeah it sounds like its just a lubrication rather than specific gear type oil requirement.

lithium grease might be a good way to go, excess oil might run onto the pads/car etc...

My 3401 should be here today, and I will be lubing the felt on it as soon as it gets here, and I was wondering if any one has used Super Lube Synthetic Multi-Purpose Grease? It also repels dirt.

I was also thinking about adding some to the gears.

Super Lube® Grease is a patented synthetic NLGI grade 2 heavy-duty, multipurpose lubricant with PTFE. Synthetic base fluids and the addition of PTFE micro powders combine to form a premium lubricant that provides longer life protection against friction, wear, rust and corrosion. Machinery lasts longer, downtime is reduced, and productivity is increased. Super Lube® is compatible with most other lubricants and will not run, drip, evaporate or form gummy deposits, and will not melt or separate.

Super Lube® is Food Grade, rated H-1 by the USDA and NSF for incidental food contact. It is an excellent Dielectric and operates over a temperature range from -45° to 450° F

My 3401 should be here today.

Congratulations!

I was also thinking about adding some to the gears.

Looks like great stuff and would probably be great but their is a small chance it will do damage if it doesn't mix well with the type of lubrication already down there. For me personally I would consult your manual or Flex to be safe.

I just took a look at the gears and felt and they are completely dry...

I got my air tool oil at the local walmart supercenter. It was back there with the paint guns and air compressors. It came in at a whopping $2 give or take a few pennies
