Hey guys,

just signed up the other day, thought i would introduce myself. I'm just starting to look at detailing my cars, i have a 04 Subaru WRX JPB and a 01 grand Prix. Right now i have an inexpensive craftsman DA that i am looking to get some pads for just to do some basic repair with. Subaru paint is really soft so i figure i could do minor swirl repair with it while i learn technique.

There is a lot of good info here that will keep me busy reading for a while lol

Welcome aboard! Get ready to spend a whole lot of money and have a lot of fun.

Dzien Dobry,
Welcome to the forum. What part of Mi are you from? Went out to Frankenmeuth a couple of years ago to a Polka Festival.

Thanks for the welcome guys, i know the buffer i have right now isn't the greatest, but it was a gift from my wife so i'm kinda stuck with it for a while. It a little different than the one shown in the thread Mike posted, it looks like this:

oh, and I'm in the grand rapids area

If your wife gave it to you. I am afraid you are stuck with it. Maybe she will let you purchase one of the polishers discussed here and leave the craftsman for the more difficult jobs (aka. wheels/tailpipes ext.). Good Luck !!

Thanks, i'm not terribly concerned with getting a mirror like finish, just want to start learning. I figure if i use it enough, and it burns out in a year or so that will let me get a PC ;)

Before you wax the cars, get a clay bar kit, you'd be surprised the crap it removes from your paint. You have to remember, when using the clay bar, you have to keep the surface "moist", using a detailing mist, or whatever comes in the kit. If you get too much drag, then it's not wet enough. Then use a good polish (optional, but I recomend it), then a nice coat of wax - Meguires Gold, Mothers FX, will do nicely.

^ yup already have clay bar stuff, i've done that before on other cars. Thanks for the advice! :)
