Hi all, new on here. Great forum! I've never actually done a complete detail myself, but am tired of being let down by the "detailers" here in town. I'm mainly here to absorb as much info as I can since I will be detailing my car, a '99 Mustang GT convertible and my boat, an '04 Supra Launch 22SSV, soon. I took the boat to a local "detailer" who did manage to buff out a few oxidized spots, but didn't even bother to open the compartments to clean inside them or around the edges of the cushions. So I was in the boat that night scrubbing the seats. It was then that I decided I needed to learn the right way to do it. I've also started painting motorcycles and want to learn to correctly buff paint to get the best swirl free shine I can.
Anyway, my main concern right now is getting ride of some mildew stains on the vinyl seats in my boat. The manufacturer is very specific about what products to use on the vinyl, but it just isn't taking off the mildew, so I was hoping someone here has a suggestion.
Hopefully I'll have some stories about my adventures with detailing the boat, car, my motorcycle, PWC and any other vehicle I can find.

Hi Tiffanator,

I'd sure like to see a picture of your boat, sounds interesting... I've had a few boats in my life...

Just to note, usually in the "Introduction Forum" you introduce yourself, (like you did), and then post any "actual questions" to the right forum category for questions. I know this can be overwhelming to anyone that's new to the world of discussion forums and I'm not saying your new to discussion forums, I have a tendency to write for a wide audience including Lurkers that could join at any moment, so my point is just to share this with anyone reading.

Actually, I wrote about this and made it a Sticky in this forum group, a Sticky is a thread that is "stuck" at the top of the forum group, like this one,

Post your intro thread here but post topical question in the related forum group

Here's a portion of what's in the stuck thread above,

Then if you have product or process questions, look through the different forum group categories and try to pick one that the topic matches your questions and then start a dedicated thread for your specific questions

Clicking the below link will take you to the list of different categories or groups of forums identified by their title.

Or you can simply post your questions is the Detailing 101 forum which is a catch-all forum for any kind of question.

If everyone who joins posts their questions to the "Introduce Yourself" forum group then we could get rid of all the other groups and just have one group called,

Introductions and Everything Else.

This is in no way intended to be hard any of our new members, I'm just sharing how a discussion forum works. Autogeek is in this for the long run and it helps to have some kind of order or method to the madness as it relates to keeping this forum organized.

Make sense?

Now here's a tidbit I wrote Saturday on removing mold and mildew off of Canvas for a guy that was working on vinyl but forgot to tell us whether it was canvas or vinyl.

While I discuss working on Canvas, the same information would apply to any material when it comes to removing fungi.

Check it out and then feel free to start a thread on removing mold and mildew off of vinyl here, which is a catch-all group for any topic.

Welcome to AGO!

Mike always tend to cover everything in his posts! :)

Thanks for the welcome. Mike, yeah, I guess I got carried away with my post. I tend to just lurk on forums and not ask questions because I figure any question I ask has probably been asked and answered at least 100 times, so I search and read instead.
