Hello i am new to this forum. I would need some assistance on what supplies anyone can suggest

Welcome!

What exactly are you looking for? Whats your detailing back ground?

Your going to need the basics assuming you don't already have them
2-3 buckets with grit guards
Car soap - I personally like DP Xtreme Foam or Megs NXT
Clay Bar - I currently use Adams Clay but there are tons of options out there
Clay Lube - You can buy a dedicated Clay lube or use something like ONR diluted
Plenty of quality microfibers
All Purpose Cleaner - I have several of these
Interior Cleaner - I personally like 1Z Cockpit Premium
Interior Dressing - 303 Aerospace
Degreaser - I currently use Castrol Super Clean diluted 4:1 for engines, tires, wheel wells
Wheel brushes - daytona wheel brushes, lug nut brush, wheel well brush
Tire dressing - DP Tire gel is my current go to
Wheel Wax/Glaze - DP wheel glaze is awesome, but I also have some Wheel Armour which works well
Metal Polish - Mothers Metal Polish or P21s Metal polish is what I currently use
Windows - Stoners Invisible Glass
Interior brushes - For vents and crevices
Vacuum - I currently have a small vacuum I got at Lowes.
Pressure washer - I currently have a $100 one I got at lowes. I'd suggest spending a little extra money and getting a quality one.
Drying microfibers
Leaf Blower - For assisting in drying
A couple quality waxes and sealants - I currently use Collinite 845 for a wax and Menzerna Power Lock as a sealant

Theres a good list for you to start with.

:welcome: To Autogeek Online!

How much detailing experience do you have?
Do you work on your own cars or others as well?
Have you used a polisher or like may, do most of it by hand?

After reading and understanding some of the basics, the more hands on your are the quicker you'll build your knowledge and gain experience.

Everyone starts off as a beginner but with some reading, questions, and trial, error, and practice you'll be amazed how much you'll be able to do.

This link contains articles written by Mike Phillips and has allot of great reading within.

Articles by Mike Phillips

Basic steps in order are:

  • Wash
  • Clay
  • Paint Correction & Polish
  • Seal
  • Wax
Make detailing enjoyable and practice. Take your time and do not become overwhelmed. Just because there are a thousand product doesn't mean you have to use them all.

Pick one product from each category from the steps above. You already have some great waxes so you're that far ahead of the game..

I was thinking you must type light lightening Jason!!

Your posts always contain a wealth of information Jason!!

I go back and grab some of this information from other posts I've submitted then tailor what I need to suit, this way it saves time and still serves the purpose....:props:

I do appreciate the feedback, i just really like to keep my car clean and wanted to start in the right direction. I have used the porter cable machine before. I will follow you links to get the best results and i will post pictures.

I do not have any proffesional experience i just really like and appreciate a clean car. So since i have a brand new car i felt this is the best opportunity to start on a good foot. I will read the information and purchase materials asap. Because i really need to wash my car but it is going to rain and snow here in nj this week.

No problem at all!

Take your time and proceed at a comfortable pace. There's never a rush and always someone here if you have any questions...

I'll be in New Jersey next week and the weather's very similar to that in Ma this time of year..

What i will do is give u a list of items i will purchase and can you give me your feedback wow it is snowing here in nj today

Welcome to AutoGeek... you have found the mother ship. Kearny NJ checkin in. Where are you in NJ?

I have a quick question the car that i am going to wash is brand new do i have to use all of the wash and wax steps or can i just wash it for the 1st time

Of course you can just wash it. The "wax step" will, however, provide some protection to your clean car.
