Competing with the big boys! The better perform as they’re big boy prices. Interested in trying one. Thought for sure they were gonna jump into cordless

they went from 1,100w to 500w? are brushless that much more efficient?
From the Griot's page:
"At the core of this machine is a 500-watt direct-drive brushless motor. Completely gearless, it loses little power in the drivetrain, delivering more to the pad than geared models rated at twice its wattage."

I thought they were cordless at those prices. I was surprised when realizing they weren't.

I had to vacuum something outside earlier, and I don't have an outside outlet near there, so I had to run an extension cord out the front door...and found myself wishing I had a cordless vacuum, which was a weird thought.

Nice seeing a promotional thread up in here for a change.
This should be a weekly thing except add a discount

The Next Generation of Griot’s BOSS Is Here: New G15 & G21 Brushless Polishers

Griot’s Garage has taken its BOSS long-throw polishers back to the drawing board, and the new G15 and G21 are much more than an exterior refresh.

At the heart of both machines is a new 500-watt brushless direct-drive motor, designed to deliver greater efficiency, less heat and quieter operation. Griot’s has also added an updated cooling system, new ergonomic grip positions, a Dual-Pivot Trigger Throttle and one feature we think detailers will especially appreciate: the Redline Indicator, which lets you know when machine load or temperature is approaching its limit.

So, which one is right for you?

🔹 G15: 15 mm orbit + 5-inch backing plate for a more compact working footprint
🔹 G21: 21 mm orbit + 6-inch backing plate for greater coverage

We took a deeper look at how the BOSS platform has evolved, what Griot’s changed with this new generation, and the differences between the G15 and G21.

For those of you who have used the previous-generation BOSS machines, what do you think of the move to brushless? And which would you reach for, the G15 or G21?

Yeah me too.
I would suspect the move to brushless motors for the corded units will be followed at some point by cordless ones. If you remember Rupes did that in reverse, came out with the cordless polishers then the Mk. V corded using the brushless motors from the cordless. If I'm remembering that correctly.

No, I didn't have that right, the Rupes Mk. V polishers are not brushless, while the cordless are. The Flex 24V cordless and the corded versions of those (the green/black, rather than the older red) are both brushless. I guess what I was thinking of was the Rupes Mk. V machines adopted the composite gearsets from their cordless machines.
