Hey guys I've been into detailing for a long time but never really tried to seriously get in to it until now, my question is what should I get to start out with? I would really really like to paint correct my car and need to know what buffer/polisher to get pads etc and some products instead of autozone lol. I also have access to 3d professional detailing products as they sale in practically in my back yard. So any help would be great also my car is an 03 sonic blue mustang gt.

Also I do have some knowledge about using clay and wax and washing the car but never touched a buffer or tried to correct a car before and there are ton and tons of review/mixed opinions on what to get.

Welcome to AGO. Los angeles here. Using a dual action polisher is easy. I would say get the griots da and m105 or ultimate compound since more beginner friendly and m105.

Hey thanks for the response I've heard about griots before but don't know much about it, everywhere I read/watch they say to get a da since it's more paint friendly lol def don't want to burn the paint. I've been reading about the new rupees since it covers more surface but I don't think I need something that expensive just starting out.

Welcome fellow socal member, where in socal if you don't mind me asking, I'm from the Chino Hills area. Definitely get the da kit. I recommend the wolfgang twins, very easy to work with with orange and white pads.

Welcome. Nice to see another local member.

Yup, the one and only. You really can't go wrong with either of the Griots/Porter Cable kits. Only reason I recommend the kit that comes with the Wolfgang Twins is because I bought the PC kit with WG twins for my very first paint correction and I could not be more happy with it. Very easy to work with and very quick to catch on correcting with machine.

That's the one I am talking about, but like I said, can't go wrong with any of the kits offered here. Only thing I recommend from the kit mentioned is you might want to get a white pad as well.

Ahh I see, that looks like a nice starter kit and not that bad of a price to start. Also if I buy this should I get some type of wax and also for the white pad 6.5 aswell? And why do I need that? Sorry for the questions.

A lot of people recommend 5.5" instead of the 6.5" that comes with it and they have said you can call AG to include the 5.5" instead of the 6.5". I guess you really don't need the white pad for Finishing Glaze since the Black pad has little cut to jewel the paint. I personally got the white pad because that was what I saw in a video Mike did using the WG Twins. Also, yes, get a good sealant like WGDGPS which can either be applied using foam applicator or buy a red LC CCS for machine application. The wax is all up to you, personal preference, you can pretty much get away with 2 layers of WGDGPS.

Why don't your take your vehicle to 3D and ask them for hands on tips...

But...

When you do order, order it from Auto Geek

Oh ok so most people get 5.5 for more focus then? Also wgdgps stands for wolfgang deep gloss paint sealant right? So I know which one to buy. Thanks for the response and time to answer my questions.

Welcome aboard. I'm also from the So. Cal. area. To answer your question about the pads, I would stick with 5.5" size pads. They seem to work better on the PCXP than the larger pads. As far as the wgdgps your assumption is right. Nothing wrong with ordering that, but I'd suggest selecting the free sample of it when you're ready to order. That way you can try other sealants and waxes to find the right look for you, and it won't create sticker shock.

Another thing you'll want to order is some quality microfiber towels.

Exactly what he said, don't worry about asking questions, how else will you learn right? That's what this great community is for.
