Hello Autogeek! My name is Ryan and I represent Brighton Auto Detailing here in Naperville, IL. We have been in business since 1995 as a 2-bay shop attached to a full service tunnel washing facility. I have been detailing with the company since 2004 and have overseen our shops progression from a simple shop into one of the top paint correction and detailing businesses in the area. I attribute our success to not only hard work and dedication, but to also the knowledge gained on forums such as this.

I firmly believe that the internet and the forums for discussion are the most invaluable resource for anyone in our industry today. It wasn't long ago when all of your products, techniques, and resources were only what you could figure out on your own, or what your chemical rep or supplier was hawking at the time. Now, I'm using what I feel are the absolute best products anywhere in the world and I would have never known about them if it wasn't for the forums, blogs, and product reviews online.

Having taken so much from the community over the years, I want to begin to give back. As I start to become more active in the discussion taking place, I think about the writers that have most influenced me as a detailer over the years, and hope I can offer even a small shred of what I have taken from people like Esotaric Todd or Mike Phillips.

Check out our new website at Brighton Auto Detailing to see who we are and what we're all about. I recently began a weekly blog showing professional detailing from my perspective.

We operate on an express model at our attached location and are proud to announce the addition of a brand new detailing facility in partnership with Automotorplex Chicago. Our new shop will allow us to perform correction and detailing on a scale never before seen and will give our clients a whole new level of service options.

I'll leave it by saying THANK YOU AUTOGEEK and THE INTERNET, and I look forward to years of discussion and interaction.

Hi Ryan,

That's a powerful chunk of testimony and I agree with you 100%.

I wrote the below back in 2004 and 10 years later it's still just as true today....

As the Internet has evolved, discussion forums have become the primary way like-minded people come together to share their passion and their interests.

Sure we now have Facebook, Twitter, Blogs, Reddit, Pinterest, YouTube, Instagram and on and on but NOTHING has or ever will take the place of the discussion format that I'm typing in right now. And that's because it combines all aspects of communication into a single interface that's easy to use and navigate as well as share and you can't say that about all these other media touchpoints. Nothing wrong with these other media touchpoints it's just that cannot duplicate or take the place of a high caliber discussion forum running on vBulletin with a built-in photo gallery.

Having taken so much from the community over the years, I want to begin to give back. As I start to become more active in the discussion taking place, I think about the writers that have most influenced me as a detailer over the years, and hope I can offer even a small shred of what I have taken from people like Esoteric Todd or Mike Phillips.

Thank you for the kind words. I've met Todd a few times at SEMA and what I like about Todd is how he always conducts himself in a professional manner both online and offline. Something you don't find with all the various online detailing personalities.

Now days I respect a person more for how their character and how they conduct themselves than their ability to buff out a car.

I'll leave it by saying THANK YOU AUTOGEEK and THE INTERNET, and I look forward to years of discussion and interaction.
