New Tesla Model 3 in metallic white need to build a detail kit

Been a long time since I've been here. Mostly because back then I actually had a car I liked to detail and take care of. Since then I have had leases and so on. So in October I bought a tesla model 3 performance with sport package in Metallic white. I absolutely love this vehicle!!! It is beyond my expectation! I live in chicago and the winters are not fun...especially this last one. I want to start maintaining the exterior so I can get years out of this vehicle. Yesterday I washed it, clay barred and this AM Wolfgang DGPS 3.0 (Ive had it since 2014 in the basement). The tesla has a very soft finish. I need to rebuild my exterior cleaning and car kit. Mitts, Towels, Car Wash, Wax/Polish/Sealant, buckets, applicators and so on. Everything! But a few things...I want easy. I am not that young anymore. So no orbital buffers or so on. Simple yet good. I do have some stuff but really need to start over. Help me put together a kit for my new baby.

Congrats! What part of Chi? How is the launch on that thing?

Northwest Burbs by Lake Zurich. Its stupid fast! 3.2 second zero to 60. 11.6 sec in the quarter. Its beyond fun!! You lose your stomach on acceleration!!

Welcome back to the AG Forum! Just in time for better weather to start coming around, hopefully one more month of these back and forth temps.

If your not that young, you need a DA more than ever now. You will eventually will get washing swirl mark in your paint and it would be so much easier to take them out by machine rather then using elbow grease. Congrats on your new ride.

So I sent in an email to meguairs about what they recommended. Guy was extremely nice! But I was a little shocked and what they came back with. It wasn’t a complete list like I am looking for but it’s the major parts. First he recommended Meguiars 3 in 1 wax, gold class car wash and the water magnet. They suggested a cleaner wax? Car is 6 month old, it did go thru a rough winter and maybe that’s not a bad idea to start with the cleaner wax and maybe move on to a sealant like meguiars ultimate liquid wax. But isn’t a cleaner wax a little abrasive? I do have some spiderwebbing or at lease before a clay barred and did a Wolfgang DGPS 3.0. Still missing other parts to this such as foam applicator, microfiber towels for buffing, bucket caddies the whole nine yards. I think I am going to post another thread being more specific about what I am looking for. But I must thank meguiars. They are a good company that really started all this detail business. I believe they still have great products and continue to innovate!

Send some pics when you finish. Been eyeing one of those Tesla speedsters for a year now.

I've been curious about the paint quality and thickness of recent Teslas. Equally curious about consistency of finishes from panel to panel.

It pains me to say but the paint from panel to panel is inconsistent. I got mine in October. So I didnt touch the finish for 6 months to let it harden more. It is soft. Thickness I am not certain but the sad thing is the metallic white is gorgeous!
