 Here's to all of you and your kind thoughts and condolences. The other vehicle was a 96 GMC 1/2-ton and it wasn't a pretty site. Impact speed was - me 30; him 45-50 -- in a 30 mph zone no less and no skid marks, neither of us ever touched the brakes. I didn't have time and he was looking at the floor for his dropped phone. Totally demolished the front of his truck right up to the windshield, bent the truck in half at the cab/box junction so the frame was touching the ground. I'll never drive anything less then a 250 (3/4 ton) again - it made the difference and took the impact -- Thank God. My frame was bent/stretched 3 different ways from bouncing off a 12-inch high curb. It wasn't fun and I am still in shock - have found myself driving at least 10 mph slower now.

A word to the wise from one that's been there - it can happen. Slow down and have a little patience when driving, remember that most of the other drivers aren't really paying attention.

About Fords - I think there great but I seriously don't want to start a debate here. Have had 4 in the last 15 years - '91 F150 w/275,000; '95 Ranger w/385,000; '01 F150 w/195,000 & my '06 250 w/16,000 before it was crunched. Never any trouble with each, but to each his own. I just go with what has worked for me.

As for color - Red again, no doubt. And yes SP II, thanks.

As far as the diesel - I appreciate all your input. I know it's a kickass power machine, my friend regularly pulls a backhoe with his. My towing requirements are a little less severe - just a Bobcat around town occasionally. I've got a small dump truck for anything further away or heavier. The price on the diesel is $7,000 more and I have never been able to get use to the diesel engine noise. But I will give it some serious consideration.

Thanks again, what a great group.

What ever you get, post pics. You know we love them around here. I glad you made it out ok. And I do agree "Slow down and have a little patience when driving." It could make all the difference in life and death.

Thanks for the update. Glad you came out of the accident unharmed. Getting a new truck is exciting and red trucks rock! I see that you had a 95 Ranger, so did I. I loved that truck to pieces, oh yeah, it was red too. Post pics when you get the new one.

Good to hear that you're doing good.

As for the diesel, I will never use it for towing but I LOVE the bullet proof engine!!! CUMMINS BABY!!!

I love driving the 350... feel alot safer knowing im sitting in 3 tons of steel :)

Slightly used diesel, slightly used diesel, good tune, intake, exhaust.....now go pick on some sports cars while getting good gas mileage:D.

If your staying Ford, stick with an 06' 6.0, we have 3 07' 6.4's in one of the fam's businesses and they've been a pain in the arse with recalls and issues, and the gas mileage sucks on them for a diesel. Drove my buddies Mega Cab Cummins Ram and I'm in love with the new 6.7 Cummins engine and 6 speed auto, what a combo. If you don't like the sound you must be thinking of the older clattery diesels, newer ones, especially current generation, sound badass when opened up (exhaust etc). Love the new GM interiors and the Durmax and Allison tranny is a good combo but I just cannot get over the fugly looks. Maybe if the Denali version of the pickups offered a diesel (slightly different exterior look).

I'm telling ya, diesel baby :righton: , I'm SOL anyway since our house is in a gated community and they don't allow pickups
