I just bought a new 2007 red Silverado. I put a coat of souveran on when I first got it about a month ago. I am wanting to clay it after reading other posts about new vehicles. Should I remove the wax with wolfgang paintwork polish enhancer or just use the clay to remove. I am going to seal with wolfgang and then wax with souveran again. Any thoughts?

Go ahead and clay first. Then remove a previous coat of wax with Wolfgang paintwork polish enhanser, apply a coat of sealant, let it cure for 12 hours (I would apply 2 coats of sealant, 12 hours apart), then wax

Post pictures when you are done.

Good luck.

I would clay, polish with a finishing polish like XMT 1 or Poorboys SSR 1.0, and then recoat with Souveran. You could also consider VMG (hand) or RMG (machine) instead of XMT/SSR, and that truck will be dripping wet !!

Clearkote products.

And as far as brand new reds go...

CLay then Souveran.

Souvern looks HOT by itself on reds :D

Everybody has the advice angle covered so let me just congratulate you on your new truck. Enjoy it! And please post pics of your work so we can enjoy it with you. BTW I LOVE your avatar!! That's one of my favorite SNL skits. :p

Hey, how do you like the new gen pickups? My friend just ordered a new GMC 3500HD with basically every option, 4 drs, Duramax diesel of course etc. Still has his bad ass 03' Cummins Ram but don't think he's selling it. I want to see how the new trucks drive and check out the new interior. The LBZ version of the Duramax and 6 speed auto is a sweet combo. I'm a Ford truck guy but I think Ford is going to have issues on the new variable vane TT setup on the new Powerstroke, just look what happened with the 1st two years of the last gen.....cringe...

Clearkote Vanilla Moose Glaze (hand polish and glaze) or Red Moose Glaze (machine polish and glaze). Both add noticable wetness to the already dripping Souveran. Great combo's ;)

Surfer,

I love my new truck. It is not the new bodystyle though. There were no incentives on it. I am still not sure if I like the new style or not (couldn't afford anyway). It will have to grow on me. It looks like chevy is trying to design like the new F-150 with the body and interior. I also have a 2003 2500HD Duramax 4X4 that is maroon. I love them both, but really love driving the bigboy. My wife decided that she wanted to take it over so I bought a new one. I will post pictures of both when I get them presentable.

Thanks FloridaNative it is one of mine too. It took me forever to find it. Still not the quality that I would like, but good for now. Wish I lived in FL it is nine degrees here in KY.

My understanding was that when you did the claying part it stripped the paint of its previous wax...or what ever sealant and wax you had previously applied? ...Feed back please

Regular clay - yes, most likely, wax or sealant.
Pinnacle Ultra Poly Clay with a good lubricant - most likely no.

Yeah that one's a classic! I love Will Farrel though and Christopher Walken was freaking hilarious in that one too! lol I love him! He's so wonderfully weird! :p 9 degrees!!! I cannot even imagine cold like that. BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR I think now's the time to talk to the wife about moving to sunny South Fla. :) You'll be closer to Autogeek then. :p

Thank you for letting me know that. I assumed that all types of clay would strip all wax and sealant. I learned something new.....well not that I've stopped learning since I joined this group.

Didn't realize you lived in KY, my buddy I was talking about with the trucks above, he lives in Hazzard up in the mountains. Has a massive house there (own coal). I went to college with him and let's just say 4 years in FL and he wants to move back so bad now along with damn near everyone else that moved back up north after graduation in 05'. Actually the other day in the office I told my partner "watch this", call my buddy up, "so, how cold are you?"....he didn't like that joke:D
