New UDM..great results!

This was a '01 Jetta from the weekend. This was the car that had that nasty, yet unidentified marks on the roof that had etched into the paint. The wheels were not able to be fully restored..too many years of brake dust on them..but they were improved upon substantially IMO. I took a different route for this detail. Instead of Menzerna, i used Presta polish for it..their Ultra Cutting Creme (and light) compounds. They are meant to be used with wool pads. This is amazing stuff and could be considered by AG as another product to be offered (I know..so many already) but it finishes to a brilliant shine with a wool pad! It's very nice stuff indeed. The UCCL reminds me of 106 in how it finishes although i would say it has more bite than the 106. Anyway, I followed up the UCCL with XMT 360 and a white pad on my new UDM. (I thought I broke the damned thing putting the new switch on..it's hard to hold the piece still underneath where it snaps into). I then followed up with FMJ and Collonite for a very strong protection layer. Customer had bought it 2 years old and was blown away..kept saying "Oh my GOD" She said it looked nicer than when she got it originally..I was very happy to hear that. Sorry for the long-winded prelude..on to the pics and process:

The Process:
Wash
Clay..used both Clay magic and Riccardo..need something stronger in my arsenal I decided.
Wheels done with ARO dilluted..OK job but not great..will try full strength in the future if it's still not strong enough..those wheels were tough.
Tires treated with Megs endurance
Wells with Crappy Tire dressing
Nasty stain wet sanded
Numerous paint touch ups followed by wet sanding.
Nasty spots hit with UCC (Presta ultra cutting creme)
Complete surface done with UCCL, white wool pad, rotary on 2300 (fixed speed unit)
XMT 360 done with UDM, green pad
FMJ complete, applied/removed by hand
Collinite 475 applied/removed by hand
Stoners IG on glass
303 to interior
Mothers back to black on exterior trim

Joe..my pleasure taking the time..I just don't want to bore people with unnecessary stuff..I try to stay on topic..hard for a scatter-brain like me, LOL...The wool was a 3M white one, or maybe the softer yellow..hard to tell it's old, but still works great! The Presta, especially the UCCL (light) finishes down very well with wool. I have yet to try it with a white, orange or green pad..I'll have to do that one day..that will be cool to see. i had read so many good things about it I had to try some for myself..glad I did!

Thanks, Jimmie. It would be frustrating for me to own a white car..you can make it look very clean, but I would miss the reflection of black.

VW's looking great! Very nice work. I really didn't see anything wrong with the AFTER wheels.
You're right, white doesn't give off the nice reflections of dark colors. But White is great when it looks wet and glossy. Like this........................ very nice!

Thanks Alban..I shot the wheel that looked the best!! The fronts had much heavier damage from the brake dust.

I have limited seat time with the Presta UCCL (see my Scrap Hood thread) but so far I've been impressed with it. I haven't tried it via an orbital yet, only with the rotary and wool, but I'm looking forward to using and testing it more in the future.

Great detail. White can be a pain to get resutls from. You did a good job and the results are very noticable.

Budman..my title is misleading..it was applied with a rotary using a wool pad. I will try it in the future with a foam pad to see how it does? Did you just use wool with it? I was able to QUICKLY get out the sand marks from 2000 grit paper and buff to a nice shine.

Yes..I own 2 Rotaries..one's a 2300 rpm fixed speed with a locking trigger that I keep my wool pad on while the other is a 6 speed variable with locking trigger (a must for me) and soft start. The newer, variable one is an inexpensive one from Coleman that I bought at XS Cargo of all places. I got a deal off retail and with a 2 year warranty was about 60 or 70 bucks. The CT tire dressing I use is the Simonize in a blue can..it was 50% off a few weeks ago for that week of the flyer.

Klum..thanks..and no I didn't try clay b/c the customer had a budget in mind and I did not want to spend too much time on them, especially when I had those nasty paint stains to get rid of. Now I have some more aggressive clay and that may be an option for next time. thanks

Carlos..thanks!! I did not get the red clay magic..I ended up getting a purple bar from an automotive supplier here locally..don't know who makes it but it was the most aggressive bar they had. I love the blue clay magic maybe more than the Riccardo..both are very good and will still get problem areas clean..they just take multiple passes to do it. I too favour Menzerna..106 is my favourite of all (I really, really want to try the 85rd as it is supposed to have less cut and the same brilliant shine of 106). The SIP is nice too..I have a large bottle of UCCL and wanted to give it another go..it is a very worthy product..I sent Meghan a link on it to consider for AG...it's that good..and the best value for price. I was sent samples of the Presta swirl remover and glaze that I haven't even tried out yet..silly me!!
