I have grown up around cars, but mostly from the mechanic side. Dad was always working on something. Sadly I never learned much about detailing cars correctly. I have a 66 GTO which I have had since 1979, the car is black lacquer and has been barged kept most of its life. The paint has flaws like most 30 year old paint. I have done some research and have started the process of rehabbing the paint. I have clayed the car, and am doing several steps of Meguiar #7. I will try an attach a picture.
Look forward learning from the forum

Very cool Goat!

I have a friend who has 6 of them of various years, all immaculate, and a few completely redone.

I'm probably not your best resource for old school paint, but you will find one on here that can help. I've read a little about it, and everyone I recall reading mentions Meg's #7 as a starting point, so I'm guessing you are going down the right path.
