Going to the next level
Hi
1996 deep purple metallic corvette
using griots 6" orbital polisher
used meguairs ultimate compound orange griots pad followed by ultimate polish red pad and gold wax by hand.
good results but still have mild scratches.

went to detail supply shop, they suggested sonax cutmax orange LC pad followed by meguairs 21 sealant red griots pad.
bought it.

question is do I need polish between theses 2 steps?
what speeds do I use for each step?
How many coats of sealant?
hand wax on top, last step? Or waste of time?

Hi Mike, and welcome to the forum!!!

I'm not familiar with Sonax Cut Max but looking at where it is on the polishing chart I would be surprised if it finished out well enough to skip the polishing step.

It's quite possible that your Vet paint is on the harder side and may take another set or so of section passes to get you really good results with what you have.

Something you could do is get the 5" backing plate for the machine and 5", or 5.5" pads. The smaller setup will give you better pad rotation which equals quicker correction. The smaller backing plate combined with a microfiber cutting pad will add to it.

Just try and use your best judgement and do not go chasing after the deeper scratches too much.

Here's a good long video Mike P has.
