Hey Everyone!

I've been using M105 and I absolutely love the results, however, I am not a big fan of the dusting. Could anyone recommend another compound that produces similar results while remaining dustless? Your kindness is much appreciated :)

If you have a dusting issue spray some qd on the pad or distilled water and that'll prevent dusting by allot.
Otherwise fg400 from menz and apparently hd cut is same technology as megs (smat) but with no dusting

I know I'm going to get flamed for this but I really like CG V32/34. IMHO they work faster, finish better, and I get no dusting from them.

You guys kick ass =)

psynx: I tried spraying some qd, but still dusts a bit. I don't see FG400 on the menzerna chart.. is it more abrasive than PG1000?

mach1usmc: i am a big fan of CG myself! are you using mf or foam pads?

Flamed, no. Cut faster than 105, no. Finish better, yes for the V34 on certain paints. The V32 definitely can kick up some dusting.

Compounds in general will dust. Some dust very little and some dust a lot. Dry hot weather and older cars plays a big factor.

M105 is notorious for dusting, as mentioned spray the pad with some QD. Other options are UC, M101, M100, and FG400.

Guess your results are different than mine- in MY experience V32/34 cuts faster. Yeah the 32 does dust some, but nothing like M105- again, in MY experience.

The dust is dried-up, spent residue, could be the carrying agents, the abrasives, the other ingredients used to hold everything in the formula in a usable suspension.

Couple of tips are,

1. Clean you pad often. Everyone should be doing this no matter what the brand or the aggressiveness level of the product being used.

2. Don't buff to a dry buff.

3. If it's warm or hot out, try working smaller sections.

Professional Polish 2 is my go to now for that very reason there is no dust and it cuts just a good if not better than Master Cut. Followed up with SSR2 you are wax ready.

FG can dust quite a bit (depending on the tool)

Polish Angel Master Compound does not dust at all

HD Cut probably dusts the least of all the stuff I have tried, but it doesn't cut quite as fast as M105.

Regardless of what people tell you, every compound is either going to dust or gum up the pads. The paint and abrasives have to go somewhere.

The v34 works very well for me and little dusting.
I did a comparison with the v34 and m105, end results were pretty much the same but hands down the v34 had less dusting.
both are very good IMO

Only if you use to much product it never dust for me I use it for 1 steps weekly.

As stated QD or water with M105, also try spritzing the panel with water to reactivate M105 and keep dusting down. Clean your pad often and you can mix D300 and M105 on the pad which will give D300 more cut and keep the M105 dusting down.

CG V series. I never have problems with dusting. I stop as soon as the panel I'm working on flashes clean my pads with a brush and blow them out with compressed air (both MF and Foam.)
If the 105 is really that bad for you. You can use a foam pad primer or a QD to help extend the polishing time and keep the the polish damp and the dust in the pad pores until you ready to clean the pads. I find having a compressed air gun helps blowing out pads.
