I decided today to finally give my dad's car a full interior and exterior detail on his 2011 Toyota Corolla S. He's a smoker and the interior was in rough shape. One of the carpets had some kind of chocolate spilled all over it and has harden. The door jams was particular difficult for me. There were some rust prevention oil and grease that I didn't know how to get off so I just hit it with OPC 3:1 and ONR with a grout sponge and some Costco MF towels.
I dad to hit it with OXY Clean carpet spot remover and hot water 4-5 times to get it all off.

Anyways I didn't get to do a polish since I had rush the end to head out to run some errands. After washing and drying the vehicle I was surprised at how bad the paint was. There were swirl marks all over. The car is white so it's hard to see the swirls but the sun was out at the time and when I was drying the vehicle all I saw was swirl marks on the trunk lid.

Products used:

- Meg's Gold Glass
- CG Citrus wash and gloss
- OPC 3:1
- Poorboy's Bug Squash
- Poorboy's Bold N' Bright
- 303 Aerospace Protectant
- Mothers FX Wheel Cleaner
- Mothers Tire, Wheel & Well Brush Kit
- EZ Detail Auto Wheel Brush & Daytona Speed Master Jr. Wheel -Not sure why I got both of these lol. They're basically the same brush.
- Duragloss Aquawax

It took my around 2h30mins. I wasn't satisfied with the interior though. I didn't do a thorough job. I need to pick up a more powerful shop vac. The one I got is only 2.5hp and it's hard to suck up all the water from the carpet with it.

Also the door jambs I didn't get it as clean as the exterior paint. The OPC 3:1 wasn't enough for it. I was wondering what everyone else here uses to clean grease on door jambs and what brushes you guys use that are paint safe.

Sorry for the crappy cell phone pics. I haven't bought myself a decent camera yet.

Forgot to hit the bottom here and I was drying the vehicle. Not sure what to use on it next time? Any tips?

WOW, I think you might have convinced Dad to stop smoking!

His car came out great and I'm sure he's very pleased with what you did for him....Dad's always are..:props:

Yah he was very pleased. I tried helping him stop but he's been smoking for more than 40 years and he just can't do it. I told him to stop smokin in the car though. Hopefully he listens.

My mom saw me washing the Corolla and asked me to wash her Toyota Highlander too. After I ran some errands and I went to work on her Highlander.
Glad I got the work platform last for $34. Makes washing the top a lot easier. I didn't get a chance to take pictures though. I'm going to get a camera so I can take proper pictures next time. I know it's nothing like you guys thread but hopefully I get better at it.

Total time detailing both cars was around 6 hours. You guys that spend 8-24 hours on a detail are amazing. I was pretty tired after my detail and that was only 6 hours with like a two hour break.
Going to do wash on my car today and bust out the PC XP and use some goodies I got over the winter and recently

That is some serious nastyness coming off those tires! They look great afterwards, good job!

Didn't look noob to me. You did fine. I use a steamer for the jambs. if you don' t have a steamer, something like a citrus degreaser should work and a mitt for media.
