I have no experience with detailing per se. I did compound my first car (back in the 70's) due to heavy oxidation with amazing (to me) results. Other than that, I have only done the typical washing, waxing and internal cleaning. I just got a new car that has dark blue pearl paint and I want to get and maintain that deep "wet look" shine.

I have a Porter Cable 7424XP and polishing/waxing supplies on loan from one of my son-in-laws to get started with. I will get my own soon enough.

Have only just started reading up on detailing tools, techniques, etc. so I have a lot to learn from that respect.

Welcome, be careful with dark blue it swirls easily.

Welcome to AGO, seeing a lot of fellow Texans joining here lately, good stuff!

Yeah, that's one of the reasons why I joined this forum. Would rather research the "right" way to do things ahead of time rather than looking for help with damage control after the fact. :xyxthumbs:

Welcome to AGO Steve. What part of SE Texas? Sounds like at least one of your daughters picked a winner.LOL

Smart man Steve coming here before the fact. You will want to start a different thread for questions on the PC7424 and products you have. This helps everyone find your questions in the appropriate section and keeps things organized.
But that said, what products do you have with the PC?

Shaun - I combined your two posts to keep things simple.

We live in an acreage community in the New Caney area of SE Montgomery County. We are NE of Houston, about 15-20 miles from the big airport (Bush IAH) as the crow flies.

I will be reading up on the PC7424 (have some pdf's saved already) and watching videos as "homework" just to make sure I know what to expect. Will ask questions regarding anything that might be unclear. The products/accessories I have to try out are Lake Country pads (forget which off the top of my head but 3 different colors and they are in the original package which explains the intended use), Klasse All-in-one and High Gloss Sealant Glaze, carnauba wax (I think it's Pinnacle XMT), Pinnacle XMT pad care combo and a couple of microfiber towels. I will be buy a new mf mitt and additional towels before getting started. We have Meguiar's Gold Class wash & conditioner. I have two separate (and clean) buckets to use for wash/rinse purposes. I will be buying a clay kit.

I have some pdf's to study on use of the Klasse products already. Since my vehicle is new, I don't imagine I will be using the All-in-one on it at this time but my wife just traded for a low mileage 2010 Tahoe that will need claying and some polishing. That will come later after I get my car sealed and waxed. I have not done the baggie test yet on my car but it feels pretty smooth to the bare hand.

This seems to be a really friendly community, glad I signed up. :xyxthumbs:
