Not enough duct tape...


I would have also ran a few long strips of duct tape all the way over the back of the rear sail panel and onto the rear window. By extending the reach of the duct tape onto a horizontal panel you would increase grip-strength of the tape for those times when you hit a bump on the road but still be able to open the trunk.

Oh hell Mike, just keep going over the rear window and back under the car about 4-5 times.

Now THAT's the real fix!! :laughing::laughing::laughing:
 
Now that is Custom!! That kind of work takes some one with a “special” skills! :)

So I was out delivering some tires I just coated

And when I came to the light I saw this,

Sorry the above picture is out of focus, the camera focused on the rain drops on the windshield and I didn't notice until I returned to my office to process the picture. Even though it's out of focus, it gives you the "context".



And here's what made me laugh... the trim component that hold the license plate light (to light up the license plate at night so you don't get a ticket), needs more duct tape.

I would have ran 3 strips of tape horizontally across the trim piece itself just to anchor it in its original position, (for proper lighting of the license plate), and then a few more vertical strips up to the edge just below the back window. And then at least one solid strip of duct tape horizontally placed across the vertical strips just below the back window to fasten down the ends and help to keep them from shearing off. I'm certainly no expert when it comes to duct tape but I know the basic rules...


If duct tape isn't working... you're not using enough duct tape.

I think you need to change this, Mike. Get certified in "Duct Tapology" and then you can teach it in your classes........:laughing::laughing::laughing:
 
I’d use Solution Finish on the tape to keep it nice. :-)

By doing that, you would have lost the ambiance of the fix.

Speaking of tape, I recently watched someone mount a poster on a wall with 3" book binding tape. They were trying to match it up with another poster they told me they had put up a year ago. The mat black looked good and the year old job showed no sign of age.
 
I think they need "Jelly" from "Analyze This" to open a duct tape repair shop in Florida, since Paul Vitti is still serving his time.
