I am wetsanding the front of my mitsubishi lancer because i fixed like a trillion stone chips.

the griots DA polisher combined with a surbuf pad and presta ultra cutting creme takes me a while to remove the 3000 grit sanding marks (and i must admit some left over 2000)

would i be better to use my rotary and a wool bonnet/pad to achieve a better faster result ? with the same compound, then get back on the DA with ultimate compound to finess the finish ?

what about the edges ?

btw its a plastic front bumper. the paint is black. (repaint oem color)

just tryed something, optimum finish polish gave back some clarity to the area but i still have some haze and marring from the surbuf pads, I will pick up a new rotary tonight and experiment on it as mine is out of commission for the time being.

process i think could work out good enough, presta ultra cut (similar to meguiars 85) wool pad, back down to eggcrate 3M beige foam pad & ultimate compound followed by a shot of optimum finish on DA and green foam pad.

Make a couple passes with the rotary, you won't regret it. The surbuff pads can be tricky to use, but can give great results if used properly. I personally have had great results using a surbuf w/ Malco's Buff Lite II.
