Not real chrome polishing

What do I use to restore/polish up that fake plastic chrome stuff? Im going to be detailing an older Ford F-150 (2000) and it has the chrome rear bumper. Im not sure if its real chrome or not though. Its not in terrible shape, but it definitely needs a good polishing to restore it to its original shine. Is there a special product to use? Or can I use just regular old polish?
