i've had a few vehicles that liked to "mark their spot", while parked in my driveway.

I'm looking to clean up the oil stains on the concrete. I've hit the "old" spots with a 3000 psi washer, and it's cleared up quite a bit, but i know it can look better.

Has anyone on the forum ever tried
Griot's Garage 11046 Oil & Grease Cleaner

I have not yet searched the autogeek store to see if it's available from them, but from a bit of research on other Griot's products, I feel like buying a bottle to use on the bad spots would serve my needs.

anyone have a favorite product? maybe a before & after?

I have the griots product. While it did remove a noticable amount of the oil off the driveway the stain remained. I have not found anything out there that will completely remove it.

use oil absorbent material or kitty litter and grind it in with your feet. You will be surprised. There will be less stain.

did that as soon as the oil was spotted on the drive. that was around 2 years ago.

have since used a few APC's and scrubb brushes to get it off without luck.

last night was the first time blasting it with a pressure washer. it looks better, but is still bad enough i want to try a different product.

1
Pour cola on the oily or dry stained areas, and leave the cola on overnight. Squirt a generous amount of dishwashing liquid into a bucket until you have a good lather. Rinse with the soapy water, then with a garden hose.

2
Sprinkle baking soda or an absorbent powder such as cornmeal or sawdust on the oily spots. If the stain is dry, wet it first to make a scouring paste. Scrub with a stiff brush or push broom.

3
Sprinkle automatic dishwasher detergent on the oily concrete. Leave it for several minutes, then pour boiling water on the stained area. Scrub with a stiff brush or push broom, then rinse.

Can't do a link, but Proper Auto Care sells a product called Pour N Restore Oil Stain Remover. You might have a look at that. Incidentally, I have never bought anything from PAC myself, I just happened to see this product while browsing their website.

Thanks for recommending that product,i'm going to try it.:props:

Try some powdered laundry detergent. Really work it in with your shoes. That works better than speedy dry and kitty litter usually.

I use Purple Power Cleaner/Degreaser. I get it at Advance Auto Parts. It works really well on concrete.

Think I may be able to help you some here. Since I do do pressure washing along with detailing. First how long has it been there the oil stain? Two how old is the concrete fresh pour or older then serveral months?

Now comes the bad news. Concrete is porous. The oil stain is no longer just on the top of he surface. It has bleed through. There is no miracle product on the market. The best you will do is lightin the stain. You can make it almost seem like its gone. Over the counter product like the purple degresser should help you some.

Hope this is helpful

I picked up a bottle of that stuff but have yet to use it. I'm waiting for summer to prep the floor for epoxy and I figured trying to clean the oil stains before etching would be a good idea. The few reports and testimonials I've seem make it sound promising.

Well now that we released it at Detail Fest we have a brand new product called Driveway Cleaner you may want to check out ...... Autogeek should be having it in a month.

Use Drive-Up and a pressure washer. nothing beats it. it is kinda expensive though.

Google STRATA international and click on "Bio-Clean" to the right side of the home page. This will likely take care of your old oil stain The microbes in this stuff digest oil and continue to digest for weeks after application on porous surfaces such as concrete. My friend who turned me on to this stuff uses it to clean the area where tour buses park outside of the music venues where he works. He claims that it works well for this. I just got some but have yet to try it out.
