I have Sundays to myself so this week I am looking to plan carefully and begin to wax 3 vehicles I own. Here is the run down.....
1987 Buick Grand National......PAINT IS HORRIBLE!!!!! Crows feet everywhere, scratches like nobodies business, and also neglected for years.
What can a guy do to save this until we can get it in the paint shop? Pretty rare car, and when we paint it, it will be with new Base coat-Clear coat. For now I am trying to use some black Turtle brand wax to help with the scratches. I am afraid of wasting money on the BLACK BOX. The black wax is not really working but does seem to shine better. Worked it with clay bar, then went with a cleaner wax, then the black wax, and finally last night hit it with #26 Meg yellow wax.
I wet sanded it when I first got it a year ago to see what we could do with 1500 and then buffed with cleaner wax. but nothing I see on this board is local to me. Just store bought stuff. I would like to get more serious about our wet sanding and polishing because we paint some race cars here. I looked for some of the products you guys have here but nothing local. I am in the deep midwest Corn fields......
I have the Meg G110 machine and about three pads. I bought a Meg kit at a World of Wheels show and it came with tons of Meg Product and some microfibers, about 5.....
1994 Black Firebird Ram Air. This car was also neglected but the paint is not checking. Just very neglected and abused. Base coat clear coat I believe. We also used some black wax on a fender and it helped it out tremendously!!! But I know it needs the proper steps of wash, clay, cleaner, wax and seal, but where to really start with neglected paint versus something that has been cared.
Last but not least, have an '08 Tahoe that was a gift from GM Racing. We keep it stored but it still attracts quite a bit of dust. Been waxed at the dealership with God only knows what wax. Never had the machine on it but looking to do it by hand if need be because I want to be gentle, its my wife's truck and it stays in storage for almost 8 months of the year.......
Sorry for the long first post, but interested in what the GOOD Guys have to say on this. I am not afraid to spend good money on product as some of my cars and customer race cars get very expensive paint. As in like $20k to paint some of these fancy cars....
What about 3M products?? Machine swirl remover and sealer at the local paint store...
Thanks
