Hey all,

Thought I'd share this since I've been doing it for a few weeks now and it it seems to be working really well.

I have about 1/2 bottle of Klasse Sealant Glaze that sat on the shelf for ages, since even though it's a a classic, it's ease of use leaves a bit to be desired.

Anyway, I usually wax or seal my wheels with whatever sealant I use on the car. Between LSP treatments, the wheels just get a thorough wash.

Remembering that Klasse All-in-One has been used by some successfully as a QD when diluted, I searched and found a couple threads about doing the same thing with the SG. So I figured I'd give it a shot.

For the last 3 weeks, after a wash (including the wheels), I just spray down the wheel with the diluted (1:10, SG:water) solution when I dry the wheel.

It's working great. Brake dust (I have a BMW, so lots of that around!) comes off almost completely using just the hose, and seems to not build up as quickly. And the wheels look good and feel slicker than they used to.

Anyway, I was pleased to find a use for a product that likely would have just sat around growing old and thought I'd share....

Yeah, that's really what I should do with my SG or I'll never use it up--dilute it down into a spray wax like AquaWax...thanks for the idea!

I've been doing that for actual lsp application for a while. Cut 1:1 and used as a spray sealant, it makes application of KSG so much easier, imo same characteristics as JW trigger.

Alan,

Are you diluting it with plain water?

Im using it with distilled water because I like to believe the purity helps but I've used tap before and there was no noticeable difference.

Since you didn't designate what type of wheel/wheel coating:

Unless things have recently changed, and from Klasse's application guides for its Sealant Glaze:

Klasse High Gloss Sealant Glaze is only for painted surfaces. It should not be applied to windows, trims, wheels or any unpainted part of your vehicle.

So....what part of Klasse's instructions could be wrong?

Just curious.

I've been using it on my rims and wheel barrels (when I switch them out for winter) for a while now... it's good stuff

Man, what is with that tone? I have used SG on my glass many times, as well as my textured trim, and I haven't died and the windows haven't fallen out of my car or cracked.

Man, no "tone" intended.
In my post I was just asking what I felt was a realistic question about Klasse's recommended applications.

Can't say I feel the same: no "tone" intended about your post, though. Nor do I care.

I got some Klasse SG laying around. Gotta give this a try.

work for what? rims? DG aquawax is not durable enough for rims imo

Nothing wrong with their instructions. They are just covering their bases. They also don't talk about diluting SG the way they do with AIO, but there are several old threads on Autopia about doing that successfully that I found when looking for a starting dilution ratio.

My wheels are BMW OEM Style 185 light alloy wheels. I'm also using it on the alloy wheels on my Lexus RX350. No problems. Note that most modern alloy wheels are now coated with a clearcoat.

It does also work on glass and bright chrome quite well (the diluted spray, not straight SG). One thing I've always done with both the SG and the AIO when using it on a car is, once I'm done, I take the applicator (I use an applicator sponge), mist it lightly once with water, and wipe down all the exterior window surfaces and buff off with the MF I used for buffing out the car. Makes them shine and water just slides right off when driving in the rain.

Never had any problems at all with it staining or discoloring trim or rubber - one of the long-known benefits of Klasse products. Of course, YYMV.

My whole intention was to get some good use out of a product I have that I no longer use on the car. Since it's working well I wanted to share it, I figure there are probably quite a few folks who, like me, have a partial bottle of SG sitting on the shelf not feeling the love because of the introduction of other, newer sealant formulas that work as well or better, with less fuss.

That was my original purpose in trying this - might as well use it up, since I'm not using it for anything else and I'm too stubborn to toss it :)

Even if it's not durable, I think it's working, since every time I wash it seems like the brake dust is easier to get off. I'd say about 90% of it just rinses off when I spray down the wheels prior to washing, and the remainder layer wipes right off. The wheels also have a brightness to them they didn't have before.

I'm glad to hear that this works but I don't understand how. Sealants are not water soluble, so I don't see how you get an even dilution as opposed to a bunch of sealant floating around in water.

Klasse SG is water-based.

Are you diluting 1:1? Also did you put on a regular application layer first or just the diluted spray?

I have a half full pair of the Klasse twins as well, spray on seems a great use.
