Nice work on a car you don't see much anymore. At first I thought the flames were scratches until I saw the last photo. I really dig those old grocery getters!!!

Nice work Smurf. Car looks great. Love the flames! I noticed this is a right hand drive car. Are you from Australia? If my memory serves me correctly the US version looked a little different.

Awesome work!! that doesn't even look like 40 year old paint!

Any tips though for older paint? I may or may not be doing a friends 1948 plymouth during the spring.

The US Fairmont was built from 1978 to 1983, on the Fox body floorpan (same as the Mustang).

Smurf's styling wagon looks to be from AU. The Fairmont name was used there for quite a few years before it was used here in the US. The Australians get all the good stuff.

Yes they do!

Nice car man. A right hand drive Ford....that's something you don't see everyday here haha.

Hi All thanks for the kind words .I'm from New Zealand so everything is right hand drive down here .
You don't see to meny station wagons around these days of that age so I was not going to turn down the offer to polish this one

Ahhh I thought this might be from NZ and not Aussie.
Good to see another Kiwi on the AG forum! Did you take this to the car show in Kumeu or are you perhaps in the South Island?

Awesome Job by the way!

Nothing like an "old-timey style" station wagon. Very nice work on that classic!

Very cool car! Looks like you did a great job bringing it back to life! I love the ghost flames! :dblthumb2:

Our family had one of these when I was a kid. When the gas crisis hit, my dad started calling it "The Great White Hog" because it got about 7mpg. We ended up giving it away.

Hi there Jaayman Yes rether be a Kiwi than an Aussie LOL....:laughing::laughing:

The car is a freind of mine who came up to Cambridge from Gore to see family & wanted the car polished at the same time .
I am from Cambridge and use to have a polishing business called Swirl Free Polishing. Now I just do it part time on the weekends to make some extra pocket money.
