Hi,

This may be somewhere in the archives, but I'm having a hard time finding the specific answer.

I clayed my car and then applied DG 501 with my GG DA/white pad. I'd like to add 105 on top.

1. Do I apply in this order? 501---601---105? vs. 501---105?
I know you can mix them together and apply at once, but I want to apply each as a separate application. I presume 601 will remove the 501 and if so, does it really matter?

2. Do I have to wait/allow for cure time for the 501 or can I just proceed to 601/105?

I would do the following.

501
601
105

I am not really sure if 601 is really needed. I have always had good results in just going straight to 105.

You can wait 12 hours if you want on the application of the 501 but it's not really necessary. I use 501 all the time on my boat and always go straight to my LSP.

Short and simple:

Mix 1/4 ounce DG 601 to 2 ounces DG 501 (flash cures), proceed to
Mix 1/4 ounce DG 601 to 2 ounces DG 105 (flash cures)

No, DG 601 will not remove 501, but 501 will remove 105 due to abrasives. Pat says he does not use 601, I say give his method a shot, he's a pretty smart cookie. :) The typical way is noted above but individual results will vary with any product.

excellent. thanks so much guys.
i have a bottle of 601 so i will go ahead and use it.

is the flash cure a result of the 601? or is that an inherent feature of 501 and 105?

The flash cure is the product of mixing the 601 with the other. If you do want to do it individually as steps, that's fine. Our suggestion for mixing just saves time, that's all. To do separtely, you would do as follows:
DA with 501 and remove with mf
Appy 601 by hand and allow to haze (go around whole car and then do "swipe test")
If ready, DO NOT REMOVE IT!
Instead,
Now, apply 105 directly into the 601 haze. (See, you still end up mixing them, hehehehe...aren't we sneaky buggers??)
Allow that mix to haze-again check with swipe test- and then buff off with a mf.
Hope that helps
