When it comes to ONR, what's the difference between the Clay Lube and Quick Detailer dilution ratio? It requires more ONR for the dilution of QD than clay lube. But, isn't clay lube designed to prevent scratching/marring when claying? Isn't the QD the same thing? Anyone have their input on how they dilute their ONR for QD/Claying.

QD is meant to be used on a dirty or slightly dirty surface. Clay lube is for a clean surface. This is how I understand things.

My lo-tech solution is I pick up the gallon and dump enough in the 32OZ bottle to make a slippery spray.
If I use a measuring device I go for a 1/2 OZ or so, but I only did that the first time.
I would imagine this isn't really the expert answer you were looking for.

:iagree:You need more lubricant when cleaning a dirty/dusty surface.

In my experience ONR was no good as clay lube. Even using it at QD ratio. It’s great for other things but I didn’t like it as clay lube, at least not for my Nanoskin sponge.

I just use it at the wash dilution with Nanoskin clay sponges.

I used to use it at the recommended clay lube dilution, but it actually seems to work just fine with the normal dilution.

I use Car Brite select wipe n shine,,for claybars I cut it 50/50 with water,it works good for me.I have never used a nanoskin sponge or any similar product,I can't pull the 45 dollar trigger on one even though they are supposed to last for quite a few cars

Most of the time, I simply use the normal dilution ration (256:1) with my Nanoskin sponge. If it's really hot and the panel is dark and the product tends to evaporate quickly, I use it at Clay Lube ration (128:1) in a spray bottle. But in most cases, just squeezing solution out of the sponge works very well.

I put three caps from the ONR bottle in 32 oz. of water to make my detailing spray. Works great!
