I really like the gloss that Opti Bond leaves but I don't know why its streaking on these tires! The tires are pretty clean it just doesn't want to bond. Anyone had this happen?

What are you cleaning the tires with? Do you wipe off the excess after you apply?

Meguiars d101 diluted 10:1 with a contoured brush. I don't wipe off the excess because I feel it will loose its gloss will it?

Applicators make a difference. Try a round foam applicator like ag sells.

Perhaps the tires aren't getting clean at that dilution ratio. Some people use D101 undiluted, but personally I do not use D101.

Giving the tires a quick wipe after application with a microfiber towel really won't hurt the gloss.

I use opc 1:1 but recently tried LATA at 1:1 and works just as good at a much better price.

That's true... I use eagle one's tire zwipes but I'll give a round applicator a try

Where do you find LATA? I can't find it anywhere!

So do you guys think is the cleaning part that I'm doing wrong or the application?

Try using the d101 at least at 3 to 1, scrub, apply again if it is still kicking out brown, then apply optibond, let is sit for at least 10 minutes then wipe lightly with a MF, see what you think.

Your right because I think my dilution is too weak since it doesn't even turn brown when I spray it on the tire. I will test your procedure out tomorrow!

So might it be that the APC dilution is too weak? Or maybe the application?

Probably the APC is too weak. Some people use it undiluted on tires, but depending on your wheels, I don't know how safe that is. For application, it is important to work it "into" the tire and wipe off the excess. You don't need to scrub off the excess, just a quick gentle wipe with a towel.

Okay thanks for your help! :)

Yes its replacing Meguiars Endurance Tire Gel. I didn't get streaks with that.

I'm betting its the silicone left over from Endurance! ;)

I have a bottle of that messy stuff here that must be 3~4 years old. Just don't have the call to use it on anything I'm doing the last few years. :dunno:
