Hi,

I am new to all this dilution stuff.
I have Opticlean that I just recieved from AG.

For a 3:1 mix using 32 Ounces I am using 8 Ounces of Opticlean, is that correct?

Thanks
Mark

A 3:1 dilution ratio would be 75% solvent in this case water and 25% active ingredient (OPC)

If you want to make 32 ounces of OPC at a 3:1 dilution it would be 24 ounces of water and 8 ounces of OPC.

The ?:1 is always the chemical and the larger is the dilutant. So you are correct. 24:8 = 3:1

But just to confuse you a little more, I prefer Opti Clean at 4:1

Chris,

what is the reason 4 to 1?

thanks for the quick response guys

^ Sorry Alex....the enviro-one link is contained in your link.

No problem Dan! That thread has really helped me out and its added as a favorite in IE.

Chris,

what is the reason 4 to 1?...

For all my purposes, I have found 4:1 to be just as effective as 3:1 and more economical. The directions are a recommendation and a starting point, but like all cleaners you can use it to suit your needs. I also dilute it 8:1 for interiors.

I want to know it too. I am a cheap guy. :xyxthumbs:

Me too, LOL!

I believe the bottle states 3:1 just like everyone is saying.

3:1 is the recommended dilution, I just prefer 4:1. There's nothing wrong with following the directions and likewise nothing wrong with adapting to your needs.

Yeah. That's why I am curious on why Chris Thomas, one of the guys to asked about Optimum products, prefers 4:1.

I've used it a lot. I was even a BETA tester. I have always found that it performs well at either dilution. I would recommend the 3:1 as a starting point and try 4:1 to see if it works for you. It does for me with NO adverse effects.

I think there is some confusion in this thread between these two products:

Optimum Power Clean All Purpose Cleaner 17 oz. New & Improved!
Optimum Opti Clean Concentrate, Opticlean cleaner protectant, Optimum all purpose cleaner protectant

I'm not sure whether the OP is talking about Optimum Power Clean or Opti-Clean, but I'm pretty sure Chris meant Opti-Clean when he said Opti-Clean.

Thanks, Setec. I do mean "Opti Clean" as is stated in the title of the thread. Sorry if anyone thought I meant Power Clean.

Personally I've diluted it to 4:1, and actually added 2 drops of polycharger. Cleaning is the same as 3:1 I've found (as chris has stated as well), but it now makes the surface SUPER slick; definitely an awesome mix. However I am wondering, is it possible to mix OPC with OCW without altering its cleaning ability or its wax? Cause definitely OCW in gallon size is 100x more economical than polycharger, and it'd definitely be a nice step up for maintenance washes. I don't mind if the wax doesn't last as long or anything, but I DO mind if the cleaning power is reduced; I definitely don't want any marring on my paint.
