Opti Coat for headlights?

I have been reading and researching about restoring headlights and was wondering if anyone has used Optimum Opti Coat?

If you have a product that you utilize for the final step, or have suggestions, I would greatly appreaciate the information.
 
Yes, I have used both Opti Coat and CQuartz on headlights. Works great.
 
Fully correct any defects in the lens and then opti coat, it rocks :) as far as products there's ton of options, just let me know what you already have and I can help you from there, and if the lens are pretty bad a pic would help :)
 
Is one better than the other for headlights? I've been noticing some "scratches" and slight haze appearing in the corners of the headlights on my 2008 350Z. Both of those products look to be a good "permanent" solution once I get rid of it, just curious since I don't own either of them which might be better.
 
Opti Coat is an easy and great way to protect and add a UV coating after the restoration process.
 
I do a lot of headlight restorations so I am interested in using Opti Coat to protect them. How long does it take to dry once you apply it?
 
As a matter of fact I'm planning to do a touchup polish on Skybaby's head, tail, and fog lights before sealing them with OptiCoat this weekend. Can't wait to use my one of a kind 3.9375" Flex Backing plate :)

The solvents will flash withing 2 minutes, you can wet it after one hour, fully cured withing 12 hours above 50 degrees.

As for products I have: Optimum compound, polish, and finish polish. Pinnacle XMT 3,2,1. Mazerna super intensive and super finish polishes.

I could use some advice on what grit sand paper to use and the best type of block.
 
500-800-1500-3000 is what I use...sometimes you don't need to start at 500 though. I don't use a block; I use a drill attachment (it's MUCH faster by machine).

Any particular brand of sandpaper? And where is the best place to purchase? Maybe a paint supply store?
 
use wet/dry unigrit sandpaper from an auto supply store. Meguiars makes a good paper.

I use 3m discs because they stock it locally at a body shop supply store. Megs is good too. AG has the 3" discs I think.

Where did you get the drill attachment? Would you happen to have a picture of it?

Thanks for answering my question, however I have another one.

How does this coating work exactly, does it cross link and harden like clear coat?

Is it really as permanent as a clear coat is?
