Does anyone know if I can apply opti-coat to the black plastic textured piece under grill of Mazda in photo? I believe I can to the upper shiny plastic piece above it as well...

Sure can. It should go on flawlessly.

Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using AG Online

Yes. I've had really good luck on textured plastic to include just about everything under the hood and cowls. If it doesn't flex (rubber windshield seals etc) opticoat should work if the surface is clean.

You certainly can. However, just keep in mind that there is a possibility of it turning whitish in spots. And then getting it off is near impossible. On black plastic, I would keep to something like Wolfgang.

This happened to me on my plastic mud flaps. Anyone know the cause?

i'm trying to figure out what's best for the softer stuff that is inherently more porous. any of the coatings will ideally just get absorbed. i'm spoiled by the apply and forget it luxury of the coatings nowadays. soft rubber is the last frontier, haha.

Oddly I was applying C4 to some hard textured trim that had rubber next to it, and got some on the rubber. I figured it would flake off rather quickly, but it lasted quite a while. I'm going to have to look at that spot again and see how it held up (not on my car), it was probably over 1.5 years ago.
