Curious what kind of prices you guys charge to do a coating of protection on windows and headlights? I realize we all have different prices, just curious about some ballpark numbers if you offer these types of specialized coatings. Thanks guys!

I haven't done many yet, and I only do cars for money as very-occasional sideline work (word of mouth through friends and colleagues), but I've calculated my product and supplies costs for a full headlamp restoration at around $10 per lens, and it takes me around an hour to do one, 90 minutes for two including taping and masking adjacent areas, full correction, coating, UV lamp curing and cleanup. I charge accordingly.

I haven't sold a windshield or glass job yet, but that is closer to a paint correction and coating, with quite the span of possible offerings. If I have to correct glass with machine polishing... it'll be costly.

Thanks for the thoughts :xyxthumbs: I realize there is a lot that goes into the prep of these (especially glass) but I'm more curious as to what people charge just for the protection/coatings of windshields and headlights.

Yeah, considering a new windshield goes for around $250 on most cars, I doubt I'll be polishing for much more than the few cars in my circle of family and friends. I don't charge them for my time ;). I would expect that if it's in good shape -- like on a relatively new car -- cleaning, hand polishing and coating the glass on a mid-sized car would take up to about two hours plus curing time inside the shop. Product and shop materials are almost insignificant: a FlyBy30 kit is $12 and can easily do two cars, and whatever decontamination and wash products you might use, plus the usual laundry and cleanup supplies. I could see myself charging $100 for a job like that.
