Is there an obvious difference between Opticlean and No Rinse when it is diluted to be used as a quick detailer? I'm wondering if there's enough difference to warrant using both, and if there is, what that difference really is (other than the smell of Opticlean). :-)

Thanks for your perspective!

Apparently Opticlean has a lot more "stuff" in it than ONR at QD dilution. Yours is the question that everyone asked when Opticlean came out "why should I buy this instead of just using ONR?"

Waterless washes (opti-clean) has much more lubricity, so it can handle more dirt than just using a QD.
A QD doesn't have as much, and as such, you're much more at risk of marring your surface because of all the dirt.

Pretty much, QD's are meant for almost clean cars; even many people only swear by using QD's after a wash. I personally use it to clean up abit of light dust accumulation, but that's it.

You can check the product pages at optimumforums.org for more info. You're not the first to ponder this. They are different and shouldn't be exchanged.

Thanks for the informative replies. I spent an hour reading as much as possible in the Optimum forum, but the question that still begs to be asked is this:

Is there any downside to using Opti-Clean as both a waterless wash AND a quick detailer? What, if any benefit does ONR at QD dilution provide over Opti-Clean in those circumstances when you JUST need a QD and not necessarily a waterless wash?

We have a dedicated QD: Instant Detailer & Gloss Enhancer.

To answer your question, ONR QD will be much cheaper.

Yup. optimum instant detailer is absolutely fantastic stuff; if you're on a budget then it's hard to justify it when ONR can also be used as a QD and also has a significantly higher dilution ratio (i.e. 6oz of ONR to 1 gallon of water, so 1.5oz will yield 32oz of QD; vs OID or opticlean which dilutes 1oz of solution to 3oz of water, so 8oz will yield 32oz of QD).

As you can see by the amount you need to use, it is definitely much more expensive to use any product other than ONR, but frankly, it's worth it. Absolutely loved OID, that the day I recieved my 32oz concentrate, that same day i bought 2 1 gallon jugs. It leaves a slickness and gloss that ONR can't match up with.

Opticlean is a great waterless wash. What I like is that it does it great job of loosening up dirt and it wipes down nicely without streaking.

What about using Opti-clean for a pre-soak spray then using Onr? Would that work OK? Or would that be a waste of product?

It's over kill. Just use ONR at wash or QD dilution as your presoak.

It may be useful on lower panels and bumpers, though.

*** This stuff is excellent and is super slick and glossy. Much different than using ONR as a QD. However, ONR leaves a great shine as well. Basically, you can't go wrong with any of these products and they are versatile.
