Hello all,

I used ONR for the first time a couple days ago. Following the instructions, I added 1 oz of ONR to 2 gallons of water. Solely based on what I've read in various forums, I was surprised that the mixture was not as "slick" or "slimy" as I imagined it to be. To me, it felt no slicker than the clean water in my second bucket. I added another ounce to my mixture (now 2 oz in 2 gal) and it still didn't feel any different. I then poured 1 oz of the ONR into a small container and felt it without any dilution. It felt slicker than straight water, but without any dilution, I was expecting it to feel very slick. I proceeded to only wash my windows with my ONR mixture as I was not confident in using it for the painted surfaces until I reached out to you forum members to get your thoughts. How "slick" should it feel?

Some things worth noting are that I bought the 32 oz bottle of ONR (new forumla I believe since it's blue) 16 months ago and it was sitting my garage since; never took the cap off. I'm in Los Angeles and the temp can get pretty warm in the garage during the summer. From what I've read, ONR has a shelf life that should exceed the time that I've kept it unused, but I wonder if what I'm experiencing is simply due to my bottle being unused for too long.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.

Ron

I believe the key to the rinseless wash is how it encapulates dirt, and I don't think that has to necessarily correlate with the slickness you feel by your fingertips.

If you're still concerned, limit yourself to a single panel to start with, like a door. Drive your car in the rain or through a puddle. Once your car is sufficiently "dirty", perform the rinseless wash on that panel (per the usual recommended methods), then inspect carefully either in the sun or with a good light. I think you will find your results similar to the majority of the community.

Rinseless works.

As for age, I don't know about the current ver3.0. My 32oz bottle of ONR is either v1 or v2 (not sure which) and I've had it for years and it still works fine. (The only reason I've had mine so long is I still have a tonne of QEW remaining lol, plus I started using ONRWW more recently, and the majority of my car washes for 8 months of the year still tend to be with conventional 2-bucket w/ shampoo washes.)

My ONR does not feel slick either. What kind of wash media are you using? A sponge, wash mitt, or Microfiber towels? The microfiber feels slicker than the sponge. If you want to have a slicker feel, try the Pinnacle Rinseless Wash with Carnauba

Good to know that perhaps it shouldn't feel as "slick" as I had imagined it to be. I'll definitely test it on a panel first.

I don't necessarily want or need it to feel slick, I was just a little concerned that my initial feel of the mixture wasn't consistent with what I thought others were experiencing.

I am using Meguiar's Microfiber Wash Mit.

Now as a clay lube, the lack of slickness does concern me a bit.

I'm convinced ONR uses some form of black magic, but it definitely works despite what it feels like, looks like, or smells like.

(I do prefer the "gary dean method" to a single wash mitt though)

Where in Cali are you? I can give you a run down in person one day if you need help and are near by.

I use ONR as a pre-soak and ONRWW as the wash medium. I started using ONRWW a few months ago and I'm convinced it's magic also. It's very effective, convenient, and saves water.

I've done one full ONR wash & thought the same thing. Happy with the results, but expected more slickness. Also, I mixed up some ONR quick detailer. Again, very nice shine on my wife's Cadillac SRX. But not slick feeling at all. And I do prefer my QD's to leave a very slick finish. I haven't tried it as a clay lube yet because I'd think slickness is even MORE important there.

If you guys want a "slick" Rinseless and waterless. You need Ultima Wayerless Wash +. It's the best in both areas in my opinion, close second Pinnacle brand.

i add additional onr (prob too much) until it feels slick along with doing a pre soak mix out of a spray bottle. id rather overuse product then risk more marring and scratches
