Is Optimum Opti-Coat 2 really and truly permanent as the company claims, or just a scam
and snake oil?

I have used it on a couple of friend's cars that just won't take proper care of them and they still look good two years later. I consider two years permanent.

Does the song:
"Baby I'm Yours"...~Barbara Lewis (ca. 1965)...ring a bell?

A Plagiarized-Ode from Optimum OG/OC 2.0...

"Baby, I'm yours...
And I'll be yours until the stars fall from the sky,
Yours until the rivers all run dry
In other words, until I die

Baby, I'm yours...
And I'll be yours until the sun no longer shines,
Yours until the poets run out of rhyme
In other words, until the end of time

I'm gonna stay right here by your side,
Do my best to keep you satisfied
Nothin' in the world can drive me away
'Cause every day, you'll hear me say:"

....(repeat above stanzas: ad infinitum)....

Yep...That Long!!

So in other words nothing is permanent! LOL

Why in the world would you consider 2 years permanent?? Lets be honest, if I keep my Civic 12 years, you really think Opti-Coat will
still be going strong?? I would have my doubts.

When Optimum states "permanent" in their literature, are they really saying its 2 years??

Good luck finding that 12 year coating. But until then, Opti-Coat is your longest lasting.

^^^Just think of the re-sale value for a vehicle with a like new CC paint-film!!^^^

^^^Nope!^^^
Where did you ever read that message from Optimum Polymer Technologies, Inc.?
<<Gasp>>
Question:
What's the half-life of:
"From the OEM's paint-kitchens:.Sprayed/cured clear-coat paints"?

Im NOT looking to find a 12 year coat! Im just trying to figure out what exactly Optimum considers "permanent".

They say OC becomes a functional part of the clear coat, as strong as the clear coat binds to the paint itself. Of course you can abrade it off, and after many years it could partially wear off.

But unlike other coatings, it's not disturbed by strong acids or bases

I just applied it to part of one of my vehicles and so far I am more than pleased with it.

So I would like to ask the members here....
Who has has Opt- Coat on their car for the longest time and its still going strong?....3 years? 5 years, more??

Nodule, you're being a little too literal here. By your standards, paint and clear coat is NOT permanent. But... if you're looking for the longest lasting coating, Opti-Coat is your best bet.

OK...Then for the sake of time-management...
I will suggest:
-That you contact Optimum Polymer Technologies directly for their answer to your poser.
(Request that Dr. G to come to the phone...)

-Use AGO's search function.
Key word(s): Opti-Gard, Opti-Coat 2.0, permanent, Dr. G., bonding, pre-polymer resin, etc.

Anything that can be polished off, is not, IMO, permanent. That being said, I personally use. Opti-Coat on my vehicle and have been very happy with it, permanent or not.

As for the "two years is permanent" statement, actually got into a rather heated discussion with someone on another forum (who is a user here too), and he insisted up and down, back and forth, that two years is indeed permanent. I have been married before, and I know when something isn't worth arguing anymore...

Permanent to me means for the working life of the vehicle, given of course that it is regularly maintained and cleaned properly.

That is how I explain it to my clients and prospective clients.

Nothing is permanent, that's a fact. Now it will extend the life of your paint if properly maintained. Any abrasives will remove it like it does when we correct the paint after all it is a clear coat. Now I am not saying that it doesn't work, it does work but prepping the paint is everything and it does outlast any sealant out there, period. I use Opti-Coat and many other Nanos out there, Opti still my favorite.

As for the so called PERMANENT, it's a selling word for companies trying to sell the nano coating. Otherwise us or customers alike wouldn't even think about buying this knowing that sealants does a pretty good job.

FWIW Opti-Coat will last a hell of a lot longer than writing on yourself with a permanent marker.

According to Dr. G:
Opti-Gard/Opti-Coat 2.0 are not nano-coatings.
