What do you think orange crush or souveran on a red pontiac solstice? I'm having a hard time deciding between the bogo or the vip special.

For fun and a good price - Dodo Orange Crush
For ease of use and a pleasure to work with - Souveran

Both will look equally great if the paint is polished to perfection.

Personally, I'd go with the Dodo..... but I am unsure if this was done... Banana Armour (hard) as a base with Souveran on top.. :-)

That's sounds interesting, maybe I"ll buy both, experiment a little, save a couple of bucks and have enough carnauba for a couple of years.

Solstice, my Chili Pepper Red Sky received a coat of banana armor and then orange crush last year. You'll be happy with those waxes as long as you apply thin. I haven't tried it again since then but was perfectly fine with them.

No wax is easier to use than Souveran. It goes on and off as easy as can be.

I seem to find myself reaching for Dodo waxes considerably more often than Souveran. They are more durable and not as oily. Both look great on a well polished vehicle...

I just picked up some Souveran on the VIP and itching to use it. Id like to get some DODO later on down the line and see what I think of them.

Tad, which ones in particular do you prefer the most, and do those preferences vary depending on the car color?

After a day has gone by i find souveran too kind of make the gaps in the hood to fender and doors to body blend in and kind of gives a solid ora
around the whole car. at least on my black car.

Hi Francis, I either own or have owed most all of the Dodo waxes except for Rubbish Boy's JE and Austintacious. With that said my favorites are Hard Candy, Rain Forest Rub, Blue Velvet, and Purple Haze.

As to your question "do those preferences vary depending on the car color"?

Since I have only every followed Dodo's recommendations for applying their wax based on what wax they recommend for a specific color; I don't think I could answer that question. I do prefer some colors of vehicles over others, so in that way yes maybe I have been influenced in my choices.

Just a couple of my thoughts:

Carnuba(s) in vehicle-care waxes being applied to BC/CC paint film systems will, over a relatively short time period (as compared to sealants/coatings), become gray/occluded. This time period is exacerbated by: Frequency of, and often, improper vehicle washing cycles; continuous bombardment from road/environmental contaminates; bird/bug excrement; and, Ultraviolet radiation, among others.

To assist the top-coat paint-film surfaces (mostly clear-coat nowadays) in the attenuation of the above listed contaminates is the purpose for applying waxes/sealants/coatings....sacrificial barriers.

Extraneous items, such as fragrances, beeswax, montan wax, d-limonene, etc., added to a tub of carnuba wax may or may not necessarliy translate into creating a more suitable sacrificial barrier...
...But, I cannot help but to suspicion that these "types" of carnuba waxes will not be initially as clear-drying (unoccluded when cured), to begin with, as say those carnuba waxes without these "luxury items".

{And isn't having a protected, clear-as-possible top-coat paint-film surface everyone's ultimate goal!! Just think of all the prep work you've done!!!}

That being said, and given my affinity towards "clear".....
Souveran it would be... (Of the two products you have chosen for your thread topic discussion, that is.)

RE: Red Vehicles

Now, so as not to be labeled a wastrel sort of chap.....I prefer good ol' Meg's #26 applied atop the clear-coat paint-film surfaces of a BC/CC paint system, regardless of where the base-coat "red" lies within the color spectrum on the RGB wheel. :D

Thanks Tad. I do have some Banana Armour for use on my red car, but was wondering if it was worth getting Blue Velvet or Purple Haze for more of a darkening effect. I guess I should take advantage of the BOGO to get some sample pots, and just give it a go - though I'll probably not see major differences, when it comes down to it :)
