Overspray on Ceramic Coating

I got a ceramic coating kit for Christmas. I plan on putting it on my truck this spring. The thing I'm concerned about is I tend to get overspray on my truck at work. We have a paint booth we use daily to paint large equipment. I'm not sure why but no matter how often we change the filters we get paint blowing out our exhaust stacks and onto the cars in the parking lot. To deal with the overspray I have to clay my truck pretty often.

Will the ceramic coating help the paint to not stick to my truck? I'm worried that if I have to clay the ceramic coating every couple weeks it will damage or scratch it.

Overspray will stick to the coating. They are not miracle products. Claying that often will more than likely compromise the coating.
 
Coatings aren't for everyone nor every situation. I'd say you're one of those that a coating wouldn't be the best option for someone in your situation.
 
The coating will still protect the actual paint from the overspray and short of a cover nothing else will. I would rather clay away a coating than my clearcoat. A cover may be an option.
 
Thanks for the input guys. I may just do the coating on my wife's car. That will save me time polishing and waxing it a couple times a year.

I don't think covering my truck is really an option. I live on a little bit of gravel so it usually will have a light layer of dust on it. I don't want to drag a cover across that.

That is assuming the coating layer is thick. But at what point does it not become worthwhile to continually clay and recoat? With the added risk of marring the paint and needing a polish. Just seems overly expensive to keep claying and recoating.

Perhaps you may want to look at claying followed up by a cleaner wax as the paint is constantly getting overspray.
 
I agree it would be an expensive proposition to polish off and reinstall a coating yearly or sooner. Maybe with the new Mothers Spray Coating we will have an inexpensive/faster substitute for a traditional coating. I still would prefer to coat my vehicle if it was going to be bombarded with contaminates like paint overspray. At the least I would use IGL Ecocoat Premier and clay the paint overspray off monthly with a Nanoskin type clay. If you allow the overspray to bond to the paint you will have to aggressively polish it off causing long term problems probably resulting in a respray. Tough decisions.
