Oxidized Mercury Outboard Engines - Just the back of the engine

On the 37' Boston Whaler we went fishing on this last Wednesday, the boat was clean and well-kept even the engines except the BACKS of the motors. Looks like some kind of plastic cover.

Here's the boat...

Sometime in the near future we're going to take a FLEX CBEAST and some Captain's Compound and see if we can bring this portion of the engines back to life and then seal with the Marine 31 Vessel Coating.

And go fishing...

Looks like the hoods of black cars in AZ that are not cared for.

These were abused and Absolutely not cared for, mercury Verado outboard covers are not expensive at all and do the job. I wouldn’t even bother trying to correct this, I’d buy all new decals, have the cowls soda blasted or sanded and repainted with mercury phantom black and clear coated. My 300 Verados were covered 100% of the time, except when they were running. When I sold them seven years later with 1200 hours, the cowls looked brand new. My cowls were polished and treated with blackfire crystal seal every six months.
