First of all, thanks to all the great guys who contribute to this forum. I am a newbie. Decided on a GG. I want to use the Griots for two things: help me wax my cars, and do minor paint corrections, but very minor paint corrections to start with.

What pads should I order? I am thinking waxings is going to be 80% of the time, corrections only 20%.

I've read the different Lake pad colors, many of them sound like they do the same thing. Can someone recommend a good wax on/wax off pad, and what color for taking care of minor swirl marks down the road?

First Congrats on picking up a great machine as it's one of the ones I use everyday :) second I would use the 5.5" red low profile hydrotechs for applying wax, they barley absorb any product, and half an oz of wax for a whole car, the only down fall is your gonna need a new backing plate if you wanna use those pads, I'd recommend the Meg's 5.5" bp. You will see why in my next choice, second for minor swirl removal there's a load of options but my new favorite is the 5.5" Meg's da mf finishing disk with any decent polish, for example, megs 205, wolfgangs tsr, opt polish 2, or menzerna 106, because on most paint systems it will finish down flawless

What polishes do you plan to use?

For many polishes, you could use a LC Orange or LC Tangerine (HT) pad for basic paint correction. You could use a finishing polish with a LC black to finish up if the prior left marring and add extra gloss. For applying waxes, you can use a LC Blue or Red etc.

You should get plenty of pads (allow 3 to 4 per process step) since clean pads work best except for the polish. You should have a spare blue one if case of accidents (damaged, dropped, etc)

If you go with the Meguiars DA Microfiber then you would use their pads.
