I have the PC 7336 and 2 older GG wax and polish pads. Is there something better to get? Maybe smaller or easier to use?

Or is this PC not preferred anymore?

Thanks,
Rob

Here's an article I wrote for all the people that have first generation Porter Cable polishers...

The short how-to guide for using a DA Polisher
How to maximize the ability of the 1st Generation Porter Cable Dual Action Polishers

Here's an excerpt...

Lake Country

5.5" Flat Pads

The outer edge of the face of these pads is tapered so they are actually a little under 5" in diameter

Hi Rob,

From your thread title I though you wanted pad recommendations for your first generation PC, but then after posting I re-read your question and it sounds like you're also asking about the tool itself?

The new Porter Cable 7424XP is a nicer tool overall and does a better job of maintaining pad rotation as compared to the first generation Porter Cable polishers.

The Griot's new polisher is also very powerful and has a much better design overall. Even the Meguiar's G110v2 is a very nice DA Polisher with some nice features like cruise control and soft start.

It was both really. If it's still worth using then just pads. If it's not worth using then what do I replace it with?
I'd rather keep it if its justified and I am just the weekend warrior. if you say the new ones are so much better then I may justify that as well.

Well if you use the pads I show above and "good technique" with great product then it will get the job done.

The key is to mark your backing plate and anytime youj're trying to remove defects, (remove paint), make sure the pad is rotating.

Great news thanks. I I thought it was the best one 7 years ago but haven't used it in quite a while.
I'll look at a newer one maybe later this year or if I see some amazing deal.
I'll get the pads and other stuff though now.
pads, glass sealant, wheel sealant and I think that's it after my initial order. Maybe some ONR?
