Pads, Wax and Polish for my Black BMW

Hey forum members,

I recently bought a Griots garage 6" orbital polisher since it was on sale and not all the pads, wax and polish etc.

1.) I have a 2011 black BMW that has some water marks here and there and I want to fix those. What color griots pad should I be using and what wax/polish.

I have used Zaino polish in the past.

2.) I have a silver car that is old and has pretty bad etched water spots - didn't even go using a Meguiar's scratchX.

What color pad and wax/polish do I need for this?

I see there are different color pads and brands like lake country and griots etc. Just want everyone's help so I can buy the right stuff.

Do you have Jet Black or Sapphire Black Metallic?

Jet Black is SOFT and Sapphire Black is HARD therefore the product/pad combos will be totally different for each.

The silver car yields more room to work with because it is not going to be as finicky as the black paint. I would start with a medium polish like M205 or PF2500 and a polishing pad (ie White LC Foam Pad) and see what you get. From there you can decide if you need something more aggressive or not.

In all honesty - I would purchase at least two of each type of foam pad so that you can get the most out of each of your products. What I mean is that you can take an aggressive product and pair it with a medium pad to get a moderate/aggressive product just like you can take a medium product and use it with a more aggressive pad to get more cut out of it.

Did you mean M205 or PF2500 for the black or the silver?

I have used the Cyan hydrotech cutting pads with FG400, and Tangerine polishing pads with SF4000 on hard audi clear with good results.
