Hey all, I gave this 2010 Lincoln MKS a one step polish and coating a few weeks ago. It developed what appeared to be clear coat pealing around the c pillar by the metal trim around the rear windshield. It appears to be a previous repaint as the paint underneath still has the factory clear coat gloss. Paint thickness readings were in line with the rest of the car. Here are some pics...

I told the owner I would wetland and polish out the damaged area to hopefully slow down the peeling. I told him I would do this at no charge and at no risk or liability to me. Any other thoughts or ideas? Much obliged

Well, it IS clearcoat failure. On that color, wetsanding and buffing MAY help, BUT the color coat is VERY, VERY THIN, thinner than a clearcoat and that odds of going through it are VERY high, even with just buffing.

This is something I would pass on. I mean the car itself can still be detailed and polished, but I don't think it would be wise to focus on that area and hope to correct it.
