Hi,

I have a 2003 nissan altima that I wash 2-3 times per month. It's my DD. i noticed that the paint was showing some serious wear/tear (fading) on the roof/hood/trunk. I have a 7424xp and went at it with compound/polish/wax (orange/white pads) after claying the car with fine grade clay (should have used a medium grade). The compound is very thin and splashes everywhere. I used these being that I purchased new and they are 32 oz bottles that I did not want to throw away but rather use on a DD. I do have Menzerna, pinnacle products but safe these for my Lexus/Mustang.
The car looked pretty good for about 4-6 weeks and then after washing today, the hood and roof almost look like they did before the polish/wax. I did a quick hand was with the same product which made the paint shine once again but I have a feeling this will only last 2-4 weeks. Is this about right?

I guess a need to use superior products? Any experience with these products or results? Thanks in advance.

Really thin clearcoat on verge of failure?
Do you see any small single dot divits or cracking in the clear?

Pro is dealer supplier of new and used car lots. Some of there stuff is good and others not so.There auction prep is a nice one step polish.Redo with quality products and a very nice sealant instead of a wax and see where that gets you.

That polish is for use with a rotary, you might not be getting the results desired with a da.probably has to be worked to death with a rotary.

I agree with GSKR, if I remember correctly, that compound is formulated for rotary buffers.

I'd throw it on Craigslist, and buy Megs Ultimate Compound and Polish of you don't want to use the high end stuff on your DD.

I kind of reserve my Menzerna, and Rupes for more specified situations too.

Thanks for all the advice.

I will redo with quality products (just roof/hood) followed by jetseal.

In addition to the possibility of clear coat failure, could the haziness be a result of the wax "sweating" because it was applied too thick?

I've been guilty of applying 845 too thick and ended up with hazy patches which required a little QD spray and a second buff out.
