I am working on a 90 lumina with single stage paint i have applied 4 coats of number 7 letting it soak in and be easier to work with....I am using a dynabrade on rotary to convert to DA....i am using a 5" backing plate and ccs orange with ultimate compound....after a couple passes paint looks amazing and restored back to the conditon it looks like it should be in, the second i follow up with ultimate polish on white pad it appears hazy and streaky what is going on?

here is a 50/50 shot of hood....this is just after ultimate compound pass as well

these are photos of the hood completed with ultimate compound only right side had ultimate polish pass done you can see the hazing in last photo

Ultimate Polish states on the bottle for "glossy paint only". By this maybe MEg's is implying its specifically for clear coated paint ?

after seeing your results, I think thats exactly what they mean. Ultimate Wax says the same thing on the bottle. have you tried that wax on your SS paint ?

I have used 105/205 on SS paints with good results. UC and UP aren't that much different from those two..... I would guess trying a different pad(perhaps your white one is messed up) I have never used a dynabrade but could it be your speed setting or some other adjustment? Did you shake the bottle properly?

As far as the bottle saying for glossy paint....They are saying that it isn't a compound and won't remove heavy swirls and oxidation

Anyway when it comes to SS paints, I prefer diminishing abrasives over SMAT. They seem to finish better for me.
