Paint matching

Not quite sure where to put this, so here it is...


recently had a respray done on 2 panels (bumper parts) and i question if it is worth getting it repainted... the place will repaint it for me, but is it worth the hassle, or is this close to acceptable, and not worth chancing it coming back worse?

there is post wax after 50 days from paint
 
Not to be negative but I feel the match is to off to be acceptable. I've found many cars at all price levels to have poorly matched bumpers, some colors show it more then others and metalics compound the problem. I've had a bumper (pearl white), painted by a first class body shop using the latest paint matching equipment that needed to redone three times before I would accept it. I feel your bumper is just a tad to dark to match correctly and it is such a beautifully painted car to accept anything less then perfect. Just had to add my 2 cents.

i agree 100% with this...

as mentioned, even fresh off the lot, you'll see slight differences in the bumper cover hue vs. the body panels. however, barring any tricks that your camera is playing on us, i'd agree that the contrast is just too great there to be acceptable.

it happens. thankfully it's just a finish, and not some more intensive body work that needs to be redone.

Being involved with that line of work for nearly 40 years , they can do a little tint on the paint and make it match . I have had to do that many times.

yep, some of these metallics can have 30+ different tints, but still fall under the same color code...and that is assuming the metallic itself will match, in terms of application/frequency/size/etc.
 
Several comments:
1. It is a 2008
2. It looks like you really have taken care of it
3. If the color is as far off in person as it appears to be in the pictures, it will drive you crazy every time you look at it.
4. You and the car deserve better
5. With today's paint technology, they can come much closer. Like someone mentioned, it happens. The fact that they are offering to do it over seems to indicate that they want to do a good job for you. I would let them.:)

I happen to be a big fan of Red or Black vehicles, but that is one beautiful Blue.

 
I agree it's way too off. Even a non detailing geek will spot the difference in that. My girl did, and she's not one to pay attention to things like that...
 
If the shop is willing to repaint it i would take it back.I think there could be some blending done there to make it not as noticable.
 
I'm in the same boat with my Millano Red TSX. I even picked out the color chip form the paint varience chart with them. We matched it up to the paint on the car and all agreed on the best one. For some reason it still came out off after they painted it. We are going to try and repaint it again in the spring.

To be fair, the color was off from the factory, as with most cars, but the new paint is off even more.

I would have them try and get it closer. ;)
 
It is noticeable. However, I like the bumper color more than OEM...

well, whatever it takes for one to match the other, but the manager there agrees that it is best to not touch the factory paint with the available technology and that i should be happy with a respray... when he said that, he implied i should be happy with the final respray match, implying that they will repaint til it is correct...
