Hey all, Any recommendation for a thickness gauge? Budget is around $100. Something you have experience with and trust its readings..

I ended up buying DBPOWER CEM DT-156 for $99 (thanks to pbqqb) on amazon with lightening deal!. It has lot more good amazon reviews than the unit above. So, let's see...

How did this turn out for you

I'll speak for my own experience with it. It works spot-on great. I've used it on every car I've worked on and never had an issue. The three of the vehicles I've touched have measured very very thin as they were old single stage vehicles with OEM Paint and obviously have seen their share of wear and polishing over the years. Without knowing that, it would have been disastrous to have attempted the wrong procedures.

Does it come calibrated already

Can't remember as I re-calibrated it the moment I got it. Comes with all the calibration panels, etc. and is a snap to do. Once it's done, just power on and measure away.

I noticed the factory calibration was off (by ~20 microns). Readings once calibrated seemed to be quite close between readings. You get average on the display for n readings. Great buy!
