Paint transfer? What should I try first?

I'm almost certain this is mostly 95% paint transfer. I have read other posts already just want others opinions. Its from a white painted garge. Iv waxed my own car a few times but this is my wife's 2013 Chevy Malibu. What do you guys think I should use first. Don't have much experience with detailing. Know basics.

Should I power wash the area before working on the area to reduce chance of swirls?

An Dual action Polisher with a light cutting pad and Meguiars M205 should take that off with no problem
 
You could try a clay bar first, but really any polish on a microfiber towel should take it off.
 
Magic eracer will be the fastest way of removing it. Then simply polish the paint to bring back the shine.

As far as polishing would hand polish be good? Or would I have to use a poslisher.

Machine would be better, but either way, be aware that paint on bumpers are very thin. They use a flexing agent in the paint that makes it soft and easy to strike through.
 
Clay lube or quick detailer on a microfiber towel, a little elbow grease, some clay bar use, and a quick polish and wax after.

Clay bar. If there's any left, a little mineral spirits and a MF rag. Polish it up and you might not even be able to see any damage. You could even very lightly wet sand it with 2000 grit before you polish.

My wife did a simliar thing when she the side of our garage and the only trace of it is a slight dent in the panel that I suppose I could have someone remove, but it's an urban assault van/vehicle so I'm saving my money :)
 
Thanks for the help. I'm gonna wash the car tomorrow an get a clay bar kit an give that a shot and a MF cloth. Afterwards I'll replace the wax in that area.

Ouch! THat's a good one. The power washer won't do much if anything. The first step will be to clean/wash the affected area then begin claying it. I would also use GooGone or some type of adhesive remover as lubrication for the clay to aid in removing the paint transfer instead of using the supplied quick detailer. Clay in combination with GooGone will remove that transfer safely. The removed paint transfer will be picked up and absorbed into the clay bar.

Afterwards you can focus on compounding/polishing the affected area to remove/reduce the scuff marks in the paint from abrasion against the wall. Below is a thread I shared on tackling a situation such as this.

try claying first and if that doesn't work use a foam applicator (lots of elbow grease) with some megs ultimate compound if you don't have a DA...
 
I used Pinnacle Paint Cleansing lotion on a little paint paint transfer using a polshing pal and a white pad and it came off with a little pressure and elbow grease. You can get the same results with any polish - I just used cleansing lotion as it has no abrasives (least aggressive first) and it did the job so I didn't bother with trying a polish.

So after watching some videos on YouTube an more reading, I wasn't feeling that claybar would work well. I went to Walmart an got some googone professional grade, an some of the mags ultimate compound. I had a gut feeling that the googone would do wonders due to the type of paint on garage. Washed the car an parked it in the garage an went to work. I used the googone first with a microfiber cloth an boy did it WORK. Put an instant smile on my face an relief. Got it all off with that then I saw a light scratch which I used the mags in the area too after removing the paint transfer with foam applicator. It got rid of the scratch. Threw some wax on her an shes done. There were two imperfections that couldn't be removed but you wouldn't know with out having your face in it.

Thinner will remove transfer so quick with no effort,one swipe and gone.I met a lady who approached me at a gas station who had transfer along the side of her car,thinner removed it before she was able to pump 10 bucks of fuel.I didn't charge her and she was grateful and bought me a dunkin donuts coffee and I gave her some cards and 3 months later landed a horse trailer detail for 650.00. Always thinner for me unless ss then I will clean it up with compound.

Do you use lacquer or paint thinner?
