though iv been reading up a lot on detailing, as if now all i have done is just maintenance washes followed by WIWO waxes on my 4 month old Golf GTI. Being a deep pearl black paint, its hard to ignore the little imperfections, there's a slight chip on the fender and another paint chip caused by parking dings. (Cant avoid that :bash: given the tight parking spaces in the malls here)View attachment 16748

in addition to this there are also few waterspots on the roof. My question is can i use dr.color to touch up the paint chip on the bumper and then use colorx to clear the scratch marks and also the one on the fender and the waterspots? Thanks in advance for helping out!

uhm.. *bump*.. guess i've to rephrase my question..
im not sure how to tackle the above defects..pls correct me if im wrong..

1. Use dr. color chip to fill the paint chips on the bumper (2nd pic)

2. use color x/scratch x to remove the other scratches?

1. Yes or color matched paint. Layer thinly, sand with 3000 grit to blend and smooth it out. You can even blend some clear coat if you want to take it that far. I've never had alot of success with Dr Color Chip but many swear by it.

2. Yes scratch X should be agressive enough to compound out the water spots and light scratches.

Just remember black paint shows every imperfection. You can spend a lifetime chasing imperfections and trying to keep it clean.

thanks ramagnus, i would assume being a new car.. its good to have a coat of clear on it.. which is provided as a part of the dr color chip.. i talked to a local detailer.. they want to charge me $140 per panel. and i figured its worth trying dr color chip.

I swear by Dr. Colorchip. Easy to use and amazing results
