I am looking for a general purpose interior product (light cleaning, minimal added shine, some UV protection) and I am down to PB NL and DP Interior Protectant. I know the DP smells like bananas. The PB seems to a litte cheaper in the 16 oz size. I have been using Meg's QID but I just wanted something with more UV protection.

Any other pro's or con's for either? Are they about the same? Other suggestions?

Thanks.

Haven't tried either (but if somebody wants to throw a sample my way I'll be glad to check them out and give a review :D) - any reason you're not considering 303? Based on the description you gave, it sounds perfect. Very little additional shine (be sure to buff it lightly), and plenty of UV protection.

I have and use PB NL on all my personal vehicles (I only do my vehicles). I love this stuff. It is a great product! It cleans well, smells great and if you like a matte finish then you will love PB NL!

I have not used the DP Interior Protectant so I cannot comment on it. I would suspect it is a great product also.

If you prefer more of a matte finish, PB NL will work. I prefer the DP even though it has more shine. I get no streaking with the DP, and I like the banana smell. :D

NOTE: Meguiar's is supposed to have an improved version of their Quik Interior Detailing due out this January. It has more UV protection in it, and still retains the matte finish.

Thanks for the replies so far.

I use 303 (occasionally Mothers when I want to kick up shine) as my main protectant (exterior / interior) but I never considered it a quick interior detailer. I use 303 every few months or so. My goal was to use something whenever I clean the interior and for some reason I just did not think 303 was that product. 303 tends to streak a little so you have to buff a little so it is not a simple wipe on / wipe off product. Maybe I need to amend my question to include if these are WOWO products.

Does PB have a scent? I saw the announcement but I was looking at something I could get in a larger size (1 gal). Meg's said they would not offer the QID in the Detailer line.

Yep, the PB's has a scent. Don't know what you would call the scent, but it is fairly pleasant, and lingers longer than the banana smell of the DP.

Does this have any UV properties? The description sounds like QID. For me, 303 has an acceptable amount of added shine.

The only thing I use or will ever use is Meguiars #40 Interior Cleaner/Protectant. Try it and you will understand.

FYI . . . this year at SEMA Meguiar's announced that they have reformulated QID to include more UV protection. I think the new formula will be on the shelves in January, but I'm not sure.

It smells like cherries. It's pleasant and not over powering. Natural Look also contains biocides and anti bacterial ingredients if that interests you as well.

I use 303 about once a month, between applications I just use a mf towel to dust the interior if needed. I'm pretty tidy anyway and I'm pretty picky about what goes on in the truck (very little food etc.)

My vote would go to DP. I like the finish it gives me and it lasts quite a while as well! Its very user-friendly i.e. doesn't streak and you can alter the look you want (matte, gloss) with amount of product you use. For me, it was a much more economical solution to 303.

In my initial post, I said PB was cheaper but I was wrong. DP is 32oz. vs 16 oz. for PB. I was looking for something to use whenever I detail the interior and prefer not to have to buff, does not attract dust, had some minimal UV protection so I could use 303 less and can be used on any surface.

Have you looked into Opt. Protectant Plus? It comes in gallon sizes.

Optimum Protectant Plus
Satin finish
Silky to touch
Repels dust
Protects for several weeks
Protects leather too
Repairs minor scratches

OPTIMUM PROTECTANT PLUS

Optimum Protectant Plus is another innovative product from OPT that cleans, restores, and protects leather surfaces, vinyl surfaces, and moldings. Optimum Protectant Plus has a balance of cleaners, penetrating oils, and UV inhibitors that restores the original color of these surfaces, protects against and hides any scratches, and protects against sun damage.

Just like automotive paint which has undergone major changes in technology, automotive leather and vinyl surfaces have also improved considerably in the past decade. Nearly all automotive leather surfaces are treated with special chemicals that provide resistance to scratching and marring, increase their durability, and provide protection from weathering. The chemistry of vinyl surfaces has improved dramatically as well to give these surfaces leather look and leather feel. The vinyl surfaces are also treated with similar chemicals as those used for automotive leather to increase their durability and to provide protection from weathering.

These protective chemicals are lost over a period of a few months. Optimum Protectant Plus cleans these surfaces and replenishes the protective chemicals while adding UV protection to these substrates. Most leather or vinyl protectants in the marketplace leave an oily film behind on these surfaces which gives them a glossy look and an slick feel. Since these products are not absorbed into these surfaces, they last a few days and mainly act as a dust magnet.

Optimum Protectant Plus keeps leather supple and helps reduce cracking of vinyl and leather surfaces, as well as reducing scratching and marring. Optimum Protectant Plus penetrates and adheres to these surfaces; therefore, it does not make these surfaces oily or slick and provides lasting protection. Optimum Protectant Plus also works great on the outside trims and moldings. These are just some of the reasons why Optimum Protectant Plus is preferred by many detailing professionals.
