I would like to polish my instrument cluster's bezel's plastic shield(s), and some other glossy, hard plastic pieces in my interior by machine. I've tried by hand with PlastX unsuccessfully. I need something more aggressive.
Does anyone know if these headlight repair kits would help?
Thank you.

Check out Novus plastic polish. Thats what I use to polish clear plastic clusters. I have found it to work much better than Plastix

I would avoid a headlight kit. Your instrument cluster is usually made out of soft acrylic. Easy to scratch up. But fortunately fairly easy to correct. The real problem is trying to do it while installed in the dashboard. The easiest way is to remove it, lay it on something flat and correct it. ( a serious task on some of the newer cars).

Im not a big fan of Meg's Plastix. Its a fairly dry product imo . I prefer something with more working time.

This is my go to product in that case :
Duragloss Plastic Polish #681

Its still gentle but IMO has more bite than Plastix and is easier to use. Also, I would avoid using foam and use a Microfiber towel instead. Most foams IME will leave their own scratch's on very very soft plastic like the cluster.

If your not getting enough cut from that product you will probably want to step up to a paint polish. Something like this Menzerna polish :
Menzerna 3 in 1 Cut, Gloss & Wax

If your check the Meguiars Forum, I do believe that M105/205 can be used on pretty much any nonporous surface like paint, plastic, and glass.

are you trying to remove scratches from the dash ? I have had success with light polishes such as Menzerna 106ff by hand. always make sure to do a small test spot first before just diving in and finding out it left undesirable results. I usually start out with an AIO like JW prime strong as I have seen it clear up a lot ugly looking dashes. if the AIO did not get out marring or light scratches, I will just hit the scratches with a light polish doing a test spot first.

Any polish, including Plastx will work

There are some photos on my FaceBook, linked below (11/8/2014 post) that I used D300 Compound and a 4" White CCS Foam Pad on my PC

I followed with a finer finishing polish, but I don't think it was necessary

Good Luck

Take good Before and After pictures

Are we talking about the plastic parts that look like wood? if not does can someone tell me if there is something that will take out light scratches on these surfaces
