I used to have the 6 inch flexible backing but I am switching to the 3.5 inch because I think I will get better rotation etc. I notice that I get significant more vibration when the smaller plate is installed. Is this due to the 6 inch only counterweight that is installed? Should I remove it? Is there one for the smaller 3.5 inch backings to help reduce the vibration?

I didn't like using the smaller backing plate on my PC because I felt the results weren't as good.........so I just bought the Griot's 3" DA. That works very nicely.

Yes... I switch the weights all of the time. For a few dollars...worth it...

And the smalling pads and plate are perfect for those tough smaller jobs.

I have the same 6" and 3.5" plates which I switch back and forth all the time. I have not noticed any problems running the same counterweight. Actually, I didn't even know there were different counterweights available. Are the vibrations really that bad? I haven't really thought about it too much. I figured that's just the way it is.
